it will come out, but it will be just as bad if not worse than the last entry, which is such a shame because the series has so much potential, yet it is in the hands of a dying studio overtaken by the agenda of the gaming industry

Given the current state of BioWare + EA's current mentality + the current state of the western video game industry my prediction is that within the next 3 to 5 years EA will make an announcement that the new Mass Effect game has been cancelled and BioWare has been shut down and all the people still left have been let go. One MAJOR red flag is the fact that this game is still in pre-production according to BioWare. A game that was announced in 2020 is still in pre-production in 2025. Yeah... this project will never see the light of day. RIP Mass Effect.

It shouldn't. Following up the main trilogy is a mistake. One of the major criticisms people have of 3 is that it falls short on delivering Bioware's promises of a galaxy that meaningfully reacts to the decisions they've made as Shepard. A hypothetical sequel would repeat that failure tenfold. There is no way to meaningfully reflect the various ways of handling the genophage cure, the Quarian-Geth war, and the trilogy closing decision in a singular world-state without just throwing up their hands and admitting none of it mattered. The only other option would be declaring a canon series of events, which likewise undermines one of the central appeals of the original trilogy. There is no thematically coherent way of continuing the story post-Reaper invasion and it would frankly be insulting to the spirit of the originals to try.

I really really want it to, but I'm worried that the industry is just too volatile for BioWare to last much longer. Here's what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yw3T2YSoMuM&feature=youtu.be
