Life update. My video about taking a break from Youtube (sort of) was over a month ago now! I only intended to take a couple of weeks off; however, it unfortunately took a little longer. In that time, a lot of things have happened and if you don't follow me on Twitter or Twitch you may have missed out.
Soooooo, firstly, I have now finished my PhD! I designed, developed, and evaluated technology clubs for kids with autism. While it was very rewarding for the people I helped, I have no plans to go into academia. Maybe one day I will post about my experience; however, just know that I am NOW full-time in content creation, both on Twitch and Youtube. I have been making content on Youtube since 2014, since the beginning of Destiny! It has taken a long time to get here but I am finally going full-time, and to anyone who has ever watched my videos, thank you!
Secondly (the picture gives it away), Danni (my very supportive wife) is pregnant! I have already contacted Byf's lawyers and started the process of transferring the title of Lore Daddy. hahaha. While it is super scary to be going full-time in content creation with a baby on the way, I have a lot of hope for the future (sorry).
Lastly, big content update! The video that just released, The Nine Return (https://youtu.be/Lc3-GIEi8MQ) is a massive leap towards making more detailed lore videos regularly. It was co-written by a Twitch follower (circadian_wolf) and I will definitely continue to get help with script writing in the future. For the last 7 years, I have written every single script (and edited most of the videos) but getting help from Wolf saved me at least two days of research! I have also hired an editor (Wal) you may be familiar with his Destiny cinematic work (youtube.com/user/Wal2Hazard). Between Circadian Wolf and Wal, I expect the quality of the lore videos to dramatically increase!
You will be able to see Wal's editing skills very soon, like within 24 hours of this post! I have an Uldren and the Black Garden video scheduled for 12pm Sunday Pacific Time. Despite what people think about Youtubers, I never expect anyone to work for free... or for promotion! There will be a sponsor on the Uldren video and there was a sponsor on the previous video. I know people don't always like sponsors; however, I do try to pick products that I actually use and enjoy. I have declined (multiple times) future sponsors that I know people do not enjoy (looking at you, that one mobile game). There is no pressure to do anything with sponsors, if you like a product check it out, if not, that is fine too, just enjoy the video. They are extremely helpful in improving the quality of the channel because the income from sponsors covers the cost of script help and video editing without me having to worry if the video will generate enough ad revenue.
Finally, I have more Twitch style content coming over to Youtube. I have recorded a number of episodes which I am calling "Lore School!". I basically sat down with a couple of streamers who play a lot of Destiny, but don't really read the lore. They ask me any question and I answer it. The first episode of Lore School is like 3 hours long!! Consider it more like a lore podcast!
