Wings of Rean is the name of the Tomino-written novel that was "adapted" (I'm not sure how much was changed) into Dunbine. Which added Mecha that weren't there originally, Code Geass would go on to do the same.

Wings of Rean is already 20 years old. The 2D animation still looks phenomenal, though the 3d is not great. The pacing is also weird, but overall a very nice watch.

ガンダムばかりが富野監督の作品ではない。 ダンバインもまた、傑作である。 岡田斗司夫さんの言い分ではないけれども、二次創作のようになろうとも、Zガンダムに近い位置のダンバインも可能ならば観てみたかった。 其れが不可能ならば オーラバトラー戦記をアニメ化して欲しい！
