The Aesthetic City

Dear subscribers,

It might seem quiet - but behind the screens, a LOT is happening.

Another two interviews went up in the last two weeks - one with Johannes Hulter, about how traditional architecture isn't necessarily a 'right wing' thing but is being embraced by social democrats in Sweden!

And this new interview with Eric Norin, one of the spearheads of the Swedish architecture uprising.

Meanwhile I'm working on multiple scripts (and the course, obviously, which is making good progress) - soon new content will arrive.

Also, the podcast has re-launched with fresh episodes, many new ones upcoming, and we have launched a brand new newsletter - the Aesthetic City Insider! Subscribe here to stay up to date with the latest news: the-aesthetic-city.kit.com/abfa24e0f6

I'll update you regularly until the next video goes live - exciting times!

Cheers,

Ruben

Even if it was a right wing thing, what does it matter? It's pleasing to the eye and to the soul. I'm so tired of this stupid rhetoric.

I have never questioned the frequency with which they come out. The quality of your videos is fantastic, and any worthwhile enterprise takes time.

We're here for great architecture and to learn how we can mold the world the way we desire in our minds. Forget the politics mate. Your efforts are greatly appreciated no matter what. Anyone who complains is entirely missing the point. Your audience is global! Forget the politics simply because it doesn't matter.

The far left's grip on culture in in Sweden is not to be underestimated (I'm a Catholic from Stockholm),. The Social Democrats began during the mid 20th century to tear down all of our traditional and beautiful architecture to erase the memories of our pre-marxist culture, they didn't want people to be nostalgic of time past, there was no need for history (yes, this is actually how their leaders spoke). Stockholm is the one city that still has a lot of beautiful architecture (mixed with a ton of ugly), other parts of Sweden didn't fare so well, unfortunately.

Beautiful architecture doesn't get to be claimed by the right wingers. I love seeing statues of classical Greco-Roman gods on buildings which I bet makes the hard core Christians mad

I’ve lived in Sweden for a while, and yeah, they have some real bullshit, uninspiring architecture all over that place. And I’m not speaking of their country homes, more inner suburban and inner city thoughtless mundane mediocre Designs but oh well that’s what you get when no one has to try and standing out in a crowd is shunned upon.
