If you somehow still remember the name of”Yet Another Lawl Spinoff”, well, uh… guess what? After a year or so of putting it on the back burner, it finally overcooked and I have to toss it. This Lawl is canceled. Sort of. Lemme explain:
I’m tired of lying to myself about this thing. I tell myself every time I get bits of motivation I’ll get it done, but that day never comes. Things barely get done with that project these days. In terms of other behinds the scenes information, I switched phones and the scripts for planned movesets were lost. Characters I had planned, all of the first 4, the plot of story mode, gone. Another thing that you might remember is that I graduated high school. I bring this up because I’m off to college very soon and it’ll just throw a wrench in the Lawl. There’s been too many damn set backs on top of that and I’m done putting it off, but I know it’ll never get done.
Now, for those who found this out at the Lawl Aureus Server, you probably remember this message being like, sad. Really damn sad. I am happy to say that recent developments have been made.
A good friend of mine named Gearshift (Creator of Lawl Mixed Universe) offered a merger with YALS! Just a reminder that this community is absolutely awesome. I seriously can’t thank him enough for this offer and it makes me happy to say the dream isn’t dead yet. So you may notice a few changes on my side to the right. Some characters are missing, some are revealed, and others are completely new. Let’s get a breakdown starting with who’s gone:
The Noise - Was already done in Lawl Thing 2. I know we had a Mira Yaps about Lawlers “owning” characters (it’s why Squidward was controversial for a while), but I think we can agree Noise is better off there.
Plush Kermit and Bart - Gearshift doesn’t know much about Plushbrains or Mikes Toon Town, so they couldn’t make it to the revival.
The Frollo Bros - I may have made my stance on them before with separating art from the artist, but Gearshift wasn’t comfortable having them here cause of Chin’s soiled reputation. I don’t blame him. The sooner we forget, the better. (Frollo Vs. The Judge still haunts me-)
The next batch of fighters were the 4 teased in the Tier List I made. These 4 were going to be prominent in the story I had planned.
Ray William Johnson and Mettaton (Undertale) - These two were gonna be the main hosts for the lawl. There were gonna be implications of this taking place in the lore of Mashup Week (before Megamix), hence how the two know each other, but the long and short of it is that both Ray and Mettaton open up a Lawl in a fleeting attempt to chase the stardom they once had, not knowing the big bad that was roaming the lawl’s main location, “Nowhere Land”. The place itself requires its own explanation, so we’ll save that for later.
RPG Bowser (Alphadream’s Mario & Luigi) and The Collector (The Owl House) - Bowser (as you could assume) was set to be the main antagonist of YALS, sending out other villains to attack The Lawl Holiday Inn. The first one of which was gonna be The Collector, who was part of Bowser’s plan to destroy the Holiday Inn. There’s a lot about Nowhere Land’s lore that’s connected to Bowser, and The Collector’s story is set to be told through the merger, so we’re not spoiling much here.
The last group are the newcomers. Let’s make this one quick. CDI Link (Legend of Zelda CDI), Chiyo-Chan (Azumanga Daioh), and Bill Nye (Bill Nye the Science Guy) were 3 of the many other characters considered for YALS. They’re here as replacements for the fighters who were sadly cut, chosen by Gearshift. Hopefully you guys won’t mind them joining the roster.
That’s about it from my end. I’ll be behind the scenes helping out Gearshift with the movesets for YALS’ cast. I really am thankful for him for lending a hand out and helping the dream stay alive.
But what about this channel? Well, the Lawl videos are set to be unlisted and under a new playlist called the “YALS ARCHIVE”. The channel itself is set to be rebranded. Can’t say what to expect. Maybe an animatic or two of this really cool audio drama I’ve been following, but other than that, it’s up to you to stay or not. Till then, I’ll be around in the YT comments being silly lol.
