What do you guys think about the new critical role campaign?

It's a lot, and I bet that'll shake out and settle a bit now that the intro is over, but the differences in style between Mercer and Mulligan is VAST. I hope that moving forward the rules will matter more to the story (I really like rules, I think creativity thrives when we work within parameters, and treating them too loosely becomes a detriment down the line), because I want to love this campaign because I LOVE these characters! And of course I would love to see C4 animatics from you ❤

Well, whenever I join someone is either in pain or dying. I’m not a fan of dark fantasy atm. Comparing that to Exandria campaigns, where some were just lighthearted outings, is like night and day. There’s also so much happening all at once and I don’t enjoy everyone being separated. I don’t get why everything had to be broken up. It really confuses me and I easily get lost with the pacing. It’s hard to get really invested when it’s going a mile a minute.

It's a lot. I realize this was an intro and they had to move fast and crack skulls to get everyone motivated and separated, but this is a Critical Role campaign and it's been moving at a Dimension 20 pace. My poor little pea brain is struggling to cope. Also I love Brennan but he's so prolific now that I'm starting to grow weary of seeing him absolutely everywhere always

I think it's definitely GOOD. I'm invested! I'm also only on episode 3 and already like EXHAUSTED =_= It's a bit relentless

I can’t wait to see the first episode after the prologue and love the characters at the soldier table

Haven’t made it past C3 E whatever where they get on Ruidus for the first time, but im sure everything will be fine and no characters will die ever. Yep. Nothing to worry about.

I dont think there has been enough campaign to have an opinion on it as a whole, the characters are a lot to keep track of along with jumping around in the timeline some

Too many people at once for me, unfortunately

Spoilers When Octis came back after Brennan specifically stated he had "lost any chance of return" I just lost interest. That mansion fight was so cool and set the stakes so well. While it was clear Brennan stepped in to prevent a full TPK (which I think is fair) losing a PC so early and so violently was such a power move, but to have him come back in the very same episode felt bizzare.

I quite like the dramatic tone but it doesn't really feel like a group of people hanging out and playing D&D. A bit too much of a TV show energy so far. I'm hoping it feels a bit more casual once they split up into groups :)

Haven’t even started it. Work has been kicking my ass. Can catch the live stream then I feel unenthusiastic to watch the upload

I'm really struggling to get into it. I haven't made it past the first episode. It just slogs on and on with nothing happening. A dude died and everyone is sad about it...OK? I'm 1.5 hours into it, all the characters are varying levels of depressed, and like...shouldn't there have been a hook by now? Can anyone have any emotion other than "I'm sad this man is dead."? I know its the first episode, but it just doesn't feel like Critical Role and for the pilot episode of a new series, in a new world, with a new DM...it really feels like they dropped the ball. There's ZERO excitement going on. Maybe I got to get further in, but by 1.5 hours of a 4.5 hour episode I should at least be a little interested in what is going on and not turning it off to binge watch an entire season of World of IO because I'm bored out of my mind and have zero investment into what's going on.

@JayShroomish

Too serious, exposition on top of exposition on top of exposition.
