I think that would heavily depend on the series and your topic. Take Star Wars. Most discussion about star wars impacts on culture would be by order of release, while if you are talking about in universe lore it would probably be best in chronological order. Theoretically you can evan have a discussion using the order you read them in if it is relation to impacts on your life. Good Luck and I can't wait to see it.

I voted OTHER because @Siansonea Orande's point is, IMO, the best plan--both chronological for release or historical period are covered in it.

I think it depends on the narrative you're creating around those films. You should present them in the order of the points you want to make about them. If you want to talk about something that builds on another talking point, you should present those films in that order regardless of their period setting or year of release.

Arranged by the century/decade they're set in, and within those categories, sorted by release date.
