This morning I was doing 100kph on the highway during *THICK* peak traffic, near me a motorcycle. In the fast lane infront of us, a work van. Usual morning traffic. Suddenly 3 huge square- ish panels fly off the vans roof are up in the air flying towards me and the motorbike! Whats the mass of those wood panels? How thick are they? Whats their trajectory? Whats the rest of traffic doing to react? Will they slide on the road surface when they land? Whos in their path? Oh yeah, ITS FREAKIN' ME and the bike!

If i swerve to protect myself and evade the panels I'll hit the biker and he gets destroyed by the traffic behind us. If I slow down too quick im gonna make a pile up crash. If i brunt force the panel, I WILL DIE. It was the trolly problem in a quicktime event.

I slowed acceptably, checked my mirrors, the motorbike swerves to evade one of the panels and BANG ive been hit and its more than just paneling flying through the air. In the ploom of dust, i see It took my number plate too. I dont even know where it landed. Turns out the paneling was plaster and not wood. THANK GOD. Must have caught the wind and snapped them in half right off the roof of the van. The work van doesnt even realize the destruction he has caused in his wake and is driving off into the rising sun. Turns out someone else got git by the panels too and they caught up to him and pulled him over. We both got the vans details and insurance info.

Damn son, im just happy we are all alive. That coulda gone way worse, like really wrong really fast. Stay safe out on them roads k. And DONT put plaster sheets on your roof rack!

Was planning on selling this car in a few days before i leave for australia. Guess there goes €1000 off what i can get for it now 😪.
