long post/rant: Please be respectful to those who consume caffeine and don’t completely bash them for the fact they do.
constantly looking down on people and giving them shit about them drinking energy drinks is NOT helpful. Many of us suffer from a caffeine addiction, which is a very common addiction that is not talked about much. Caffeine is indeed a drug, and is not something you can just quit doing on a random tuesday. By consuming large amounts of caffeine on a day to day basis, it slowly becomes something our body relies on and can’t feel normal without. That’s also why the saying “i’m not awake until i’ve had my morning cup of coffee” is a thing!!
Reminding someone how they’re gonna get heart issues, kidney failure, and even death is just stressful for the individual. We are WELL AWARE of the factors that come with this. Drinking caffeine is indeed a risk, but that is for the person to make. I understand that most of the time people are just trying to help, which is totally okay. Just don’t overwork the person about it.
It’s one thing spreading awareness, it’s another thing to be harassing individuals with the problem. I think it’s great to be talking about the dangers of caffeine addiction and how caffeine has side affects. In no way do i promote overconsumption of caffeine in the slightest!! I just hope people realize it’s not a very easy thing to quit, coming from someone who’s been actively trying to ween off caffeine for a year now. I’m down to drinking only about 200 mg a day which is a lot better than where i was at. I appreciate everyone who’s been very respectful about it, and i hope others can kind of understand where im coming from by this post!!
