Do you use Content ID to claim royalties on YouTube and/or other platforms like IG/FB?

In case you haven't heard of it, Content ID is what's used to collect royalties if someone uses your song in a YouTube video or on social media sites. It automatically detects when your audio file is used.

I never use Content ID. Just cause it causes Influencers to not use your music or sound in a video. if that video did 100k or 1 mil thats free advertisement from the influencer that is using your sound. do the math!

the unfortunate truth, and this is the problem with type beats, is that most people claim the content ID without owning the instrumental and it causes a huge headache for thousands of artists and producers. but they don’t care. they knowingly check that box when distributing on a leased beat. i guess it’s important to them to collect on those < 1k streamed songs 🫠

I use Content ID on every song possible, and it’s quite the extra penny. I‘d always recommend using it. 👍

Nah, the CD baby one just causes issues and no Youtubers ever end up using your song

Not directly related to this topic, but I'm curious about something related to copyright. I'm going to advertise my spotify playlist on Instagram. If I use one of the songs from the playlist as music in this ad, will I have a problem? If I have a problem, how can I choose the song for my playlist ad?
