Can a desk stand on 3 legs? My once-sturdy wooden work desk broke suddenly last night, at midnight, 12AM. The hour itself may raise questions… indeed, I am a night owl… but that’s not why I’m writing this post.
⚠️NOTE: This is a real story from behind-the-scenes, but also a long post, so I left a TL;DR at the end! Also, I admit my ‘desk’ was technically a dinner table. But I bought and used it for work, and I never ate dinner on it. Seven years later, it’s a desk, my desk. Or at least it was…

Yesterday morning, out of nowhere, my computer monitor died. I tried everything; it was a goner. Over a decade of service.
The day passed and midnight came. I decided to replace it with another screen that sat on my work desk. Barely as I had wrapped my hands around to lift it, that moment I heard a loud CRACK from below.
I had to blink my eyes to believe it - the desk leg had snapped in two at a sharp diagonal angle. There was no way to put it back in place, nor balance it. And if one leg snapped like nothing… I wasn’t confident in the three that remained.
With all my strength (and limbs), I tried to keep this very heavy monitor and desk from total collapse. I called out to my wife. She rushed over and we took turns holding the 3-legged table up and removing the things atop - my screen, recording gear, and an extra-large antique lamp.
Once cleared, minus another lamp which remains affixed to it, the desk could balance itself. Enough for me to sit down and realize how lucky I was:
1) that I wasn’t under the desk as I was literally a minute prior, unplugging the wires - the top of the desk is extremely heavy, not to mention the heavy things atop it… So a trip to the ER at best… at worse, The End… and I’d rather not leave so soon.
2) that the entire desk simply didn’t collapse, break everything on top (monitor included), and smash my toes. Ouch.

As of today, the desk remains standing as you can see in the picture. I don’t intend to fix it - the pieces were all solid wood, though of a cheap, fast-growing tropical wood, as I’ve learned. Seven years after I bought it, and more than 50 (!!!) Mr. Mythos videos made on top of it, I will morn it. But I’m now in the market for Oak or Hickory.
I’m thinking of making my own desk from scratch. Come October or November, perfect weather for woodwork and I’ll be fully recovered from surgery. I would love to hear any cool ideas you have for it, or any tips! We can call it the Mythstation… … Feel free to suggest a better name for it as well haha.
For now, I’m typing this on a comically tiny desk with four metal legs. And that will do fine for the time being.
~|🔵|~ The “Curse” (?) of Making Demonology Videos ~|🔵|~
As some of you know, Demonology videos have historically given me trouble in many strange ways.
I have a hard deadline for the video I’m currently working on – “Demonic Oppression Explained in Obsessive Detail”, to be released tomorrow. It’s in the final stretch of production, and I’m very hyped for it, despite the circumstances making it difficult for me.
Some of you may be familiar with Demonic Oppression, and might see similarities in my troubles with my desk and monitor. There’s more I didn’t discuss, such as getting very sick during the process (I’ve recovered mostly since but still dealing with a few lingering issues).
Looking back…
Some of my fans noticed that I released my last video, “Demonic Activity Explained in Obsessive Detail” at a very unusual time.
Honestly, odd things happened in my life that I’d rather not elaborate on here at this moment. I had to extend the deadline multiple times, thankfully our sponsor was incredibly understanding, but eventually the trigger had to be pulled: resulting in the unfortunate release time - late Sunday night here in the US) - and sadly lower views than hoped for.
(That said, I was incredibly touched by many of the comments you left on Vol. 1, genuinely moved by what you shared, and wanted to let you know that you all made it worth it to me!)
I try to take responsibility where I can, especially when working on a Demonology video. It’s easy to get caught up when you’re in the rabbit hole.
Life presents challenges of varying degrees. Whatever life throws at you, I believe keeping faith is vital. Faith in yourself, the Tao, the universe, God… whatever it is for you, and I won’t say what I believe beyond the importance of keeping faith. I have a project to finish. Even if it’s on sub-par monitor on a tiny desk I had lying around. Let’s do it.
~|🔵|~ New Video & the Fate of Vol. 2 ~|🔵|~
“Demonic Oppression Explained in Obsessive Detail” will be around 30 minutes long.
I originally planned to do Vol. 2 in full, however, in a few months, I’m intending to be an organ donor. I decided to make Oppression its own shorter video to give myself time for my medical tests and surgical prep. I hope that’s understandable. Vol. 2 will still happen, just not immediately.
I did think, however, that the table incident was odd… and it inspired me to share my story, also to humbly ask for of your help - this could be a word of encouragement, good vibes, or a prayer - it doesn’t matter, whatever you see fit. I appreciate it.
📅 Saturday, June 21st is the date… I can’t wait to watch the video with you all when it’s out!
Till then, I’ll be working hard to bring the good stuff to you. – MM

TL;DR: Desk: broken. Monitor: toast. Health: alive. Request: Send good vibes, a prayer, and/or ideas for a custom wood desk. Demonic Activity Vol. 2 is delayed as I’m prepping for a major surgery. However, a new video “Demonic Oppression Explained in Obsessive Detail” is coming TOMORROW - Saturday, June 21. 👼 🔔👿
