@marcspector5592 Here is why Iron Man takes battle IQ over Winter Soldier in LA : First in Iron Man 1 he used "the ice problem" against Iron Monger (because Tony figured out Obadiah didn't had time to test his armor flight abilities and therefore didn't solve the ice problem)
also in Iron Man 1, he used his environment to beat Iron Monger (he overcharged and overheat the Stark Industries arc reactor to kill Obadiah with Pepper's help)
and he remove some cables on Iron Monger's armor (which were very expoded) so he uses his enemies weaknesses against them
In Iron Man 2, he used an alter as a weapon when he fought Rhodey in an Iron Man armor
He also used the "repulso-rays clash" trick with Rhodes to defeat Whiplash, a trick he previously discovered in his fight against Rhodes
In the Avengers he tried to crush Thor's face on a mountain (so again he uses his environment at his advantage) and ofc he also took advantage of the "lightning boost" and used energy attacks against Thor (like repulso-rays and he didn't fought physically, possibly also because he knew Thor was way stronger)
He also likes to start his fight with bullrushes (like against Iron Monger and Thor)
In Iron Man 3, he used his intelligence in a fight to defeat 2 extremis soldiers (Eric Sabin and Elen Brandt) without armor To defeat them, he first fought Elen and used her exothermic powers against her (he made her melt his handcuffs) and then he put a metal piece in a microwave to make an explosion killing Ellen Brandt in the process (and he protected himself from the explosion with the door of a closet)
and then he defeated Eric with Harvey's help (the kid), who used a flashlight Tony previoulsy gave him to bling Eric and then Tony one-shoted Eric with a repulso-rays in the head (he had repulso-rays)
and he also has few battle IQ feats when he sneak in Mandarin's mansion
and during his fight against Killian, he send his armor (mk 42) on Killian and then ordered Jarvis to destroy mk 42 (with Killian still inside) to kill him
It didn't killed Killian (because of his healing factor) but during Tony and Killian fight, Tony used his repulso-rays to strike harder (to give him momentum) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrOTZ... 1:50
he uses his legs jet boot to strike harder Killian (to give him momentum) and his hands repulso-rays to strike harder
so he uses his armor/ressources in an unorthodoxe way
and as you can see, at the end of his 3 solo movies he always uses his intelligence to take down his enemies (who are more powerful than him otherwise)
also, I forgot but in Avengers 1 final battle, he uses his repulso-rays and make them reflect on Cap's shield to amplify their power and hit multiple Chitauris when SHIELD send a nuke on NYC, he also quickly think about putting him in the portal/in the Chitauri base, even under the stress and pression of the lack of time and stakes of the situation In Age of Ultron final battle, he thought about overpowering Sokovia's Vibranium core to destroy the city before it hit Earth
And he defeated Iron Legion drones by exploiting some of their weaknesses (like their unprotected neck) in the AoU Avengers Tower battle In Civil War and Homecoming he doesn't have many battle IQ feats (except using combat pattern against Cap in final battle, use some kind of handcuff to block Cap's leg and prevent him from helping Bucky, he used his laser to cause debris to fall, thus blocking a passage, preventing Cap from helping Bucky and he use a missiles to destroy an issue and prevent Bucky from escaping from Hydra's bunker)
In IW he has many battle IQ feats, he first made the plan to rescue Strange (with Peter) and then he made the plan to beat Thanos (with Strange and Quill)
then, he dropped Ebony Maw's spaceship on Thanos and in his fight against Thanos, he first created missiles in his back with nanotech (so Thanos couldn't see them), then he used a gadgets that sticked on Thanos gauntlet welding arm to prevent Thanos from using it (until Thanos remove the gadget) and then, he made a combo of attacks and weapons created with nanotech of Thanos making hims bleed and he used nanotech shield to block power stone blast (quick thinking feat) and then he used redirected nanotech from his leg to make another repulso-ray (one was destroyed) to try to maintain Thanos at distance and finally, he made a nanotech blade to try to stabb Thanos
And in Endgame he doesn't have much battle IQ feats except suggesting Thor to boost his armor with lightning (like in Avengers 1) and he used nanotech to remove the stones from Thanos gauntlet and transfer them to Tony's gauntlet
So basically, he uses his intelligence in fight to defeat more powerful enemies (like in IM1, 2 and 3), he uses his environment at his advantage (IM1, A1, IM2, A2 etc) and he uses his ressources in original ways (IM3) and he used trick previously discovered (repulso-rays clash in Iron Man 2, Thor's lightning boost in Endgame etc) and he is a great problem solver with great quick thinking (A1 and 2 final battles)
And he is a great strategist and tactician (CW, IW etc)
