Their planet was dying. An alien culture that somehow manages to move beyond self-indulgence and greed in a bold attempt to save their children and future generations. This revolutionary en masse movement becomes the unexpected trigger causing spontaneous cognitive evolution. Individuals quickly become highly empathic and later telepathic with lifeforms on their planet and beyond. Empathy was the key that opened the door linking the civilization to an awaiting sentient universe.

Aliens came a million years ago and evolved a group of hominids for work forces, a few escaped, and took them to the stars where eventually they proved so adaptive that they ended up running everything behind the scenes and took over and have kept Earth as a Nature Park. But now they are pissed state of things. Couple of stories in this!

Humans host a galactic Summit in Earth orbit. There is a collision between two ships and debris strikes the station damaging the habitat of the ammonia breathers. They have emergency suits but they will run out of breathable atmosphere in 18 hours. Humans repair the habitat and seal it using repair panels and duct tape. Then the humans start collecting urine which will break down into ammonia. I think this could be written about an hour long but of course that's up to you. I like this story because it is an unusual happy ending. All kinds of opportunities for subplots.

Human dreadnought accidentally enters worm hole and finds themselves in an unknown galaxy in uncharted space. Spends the next year trying to plot a course for home. When they realize how far from home they are, they realize they must make allies as they travel for fuel, repairs, parts, food, etc. Could be a multiple part series. (Please, no dragons...unless they're Reptilians)

Your comedic relief stories that found their way into my recommended list were absolute gold! The story that referenced duct tape & WD-40, the mistranslation of the accelerated termination protocol to fermentation protocol that resulted in peace treaties being signed at drinking parties. I love these. My own life experiences could serve as stories like this: like trying to figure out why my robot vacuum didn’t work, and turning it over to find the serial number while overlooking the on switch; my sister walking into a floor-to-ceiling window right beside the entry door; eating cinnamon that I’m allergic to because I still like it, my equation clock gift to my friend who hates math but got the joke, my love of your integration of sci-fi and mythology. In happy to supply anecdotes for inspiration for more genuinely hilarious stories!
