PS. Hi Orinda! You have the most beautiful eyes ever!!! I really wish you could find in your heart to live with a human and then someone could enjoy your eyes everyday! Tomball and Hibbing did itβ¦so can you! β₯οΈπβ₯

That is wonderful news. It's an excellent argument for managed colonies.

Wish that was true for the one I feed. He shows up 3 times a day for meals but still kills everything in sight. Birds, squirrels, baby rabbits, chipmunks.

In an ideal situation with qualified people this is true but this doesn't exist every where and cats are not wanted competiting with wildlife due to diseases spreading like rabies. Animal hoarders are the ones contributing to the problem and the laws should be more strict with hire fines. It is extremely cruel to have cats over populating because a person cannot think logically about animal husbandry. Unfortunately there are not enough rescuers like Tiny Kittens. π’

Unfortunately, commercial cat food is very far from what a species appropriate diet looks like for cats. Truly nutritious cat food is expensive. Sometimes, cats are better off feeding on rodends than on kibble. Of course, we don't want precious wildlife to be impacted by cats.

βBefore TNR, cats showed clear signs of consuming wild prey, while after TNR and food provisioning their diets resembled those of indoor cats"
Our research provides the first isotopic evidence that Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and daily feeding of cat colonies can simultaneously improve cat welfare and reduce ecological impacts on wildlife, offering a rare win-win model for balancing compassion and conservation.
