Given the current situation of YouTube, I'm stepping away from the site for some time. Yes, I'm intending to participate in the YT boycott. Now, how long am I going to stay away from it? No clue. Might be a long time, might be a short time. Should I manage to get the channel monetized, then there's a chance vids might return sooner than later. But point being: YouTube is not doing well and the least we can do is to let the people behind all these issues know that what they are doing is not okay. YouTube, Google, Governments, you name it.
Our personal datas and infos should not be harvested, AI should not be choosing for us what our age is or stealing from us. We shouldn't be constantly monitored by corporations about every little things we do. I just want to make more videos, share my work, share my passions, but right now, a message needs to be sent. And look, I have no sodding clue if the boycott is going to lead to ANY changes, but as people often say, you won't know until you try. And let's face it, as much as many of us LIVE for internet content... we could all spend some time away from YouTube. Perhaps it's a good time to play through that colossal backlog of video games, watch through all these shows and movies you've been putting off for months or maybe even YEARS, draw, talk with your friends and loved ones, find new hobbies or, if you're this desperate to find an alternative to where to post your work, then look up alternatives.
But whatever you do, do not give in. Do not give your ID to YT or any website of the sort. Data leaks happen way too often and YT and their AIs have been proven unreliable far too many times for us to just hand out important personal information like this, especially after we have been taught for DECADES not to give away this sort of info on the internet.
Whatever you guys end up doing, I hope things go well for you, and I hope the people responsible for this wave of worries and issues do something to fix things for once.
This has been GEEKFOREVER, have a wonderful day, and on that, see you next time.
