I’m watching 2025 fill up with the same types of animated shows over and over again: bright, pastel, girlboss girl-centered series with the same tone, the same lessons, the same structure. There’s nothing wrong with them, but it feels like the world forgot that boys can be protagonists too, that male-driven stories can be heartfelt, weird, inventive, or emotional without being cynical or mean. It feels like the kind of shows I grew up loving just… stopped existing this year..
