Unfortunately (toxic) conservatism won over the entire 2025 and spread across the pop culture as well, resulting in a bummer of a summer, dominated by Alex Warren, Jelly Roll and Morgan Wallet, poster boys for model conservative males 😣

This summer has been very DRY, but with albums from Reneé Rap, Ethel Cain, Audrey Hobert, Conan Gray, Laufey, and Sabrina Carpenter coming out in August, I have hope.

I lowkey get tired of the “there’s no song of the summer this year” discourse because it doesn’t acknowledge the fact that even Espresso wasn’t THE song of the summer and that a monoculture hasn’t existed for a while. It’s like actively ignoring what we know; there’s a reason the Tumblr girlies were “Tumblr” girlies. On a sidenote I would say Manchild is LITERALLY right there and has enough differing content to work for a lot of different viral trends

For me personally Addison Rae won the summer with her debut album and “fame is a gun” being my song of the summer. But yea no real pop girly won on the charts or made a huge pop culture impact. 🩷💙
