Could be a net positive long-term… Short term most definitely will suck. Yay another hit!

Tariffs will raise prices, but waffling on whether to actually start will affect markets and maybe prices just as much.

Any "SMART" person in business should know this is gonna increase prices. It also affects the market temporarily, as well as increasing inflation, etc.

@joeshovel2

Corporations will use any excuse to raise prices.

Need to add a new one: Prices will go up a bit in the near future, but it'll be worth it for the country in the long term

Tarriffs will create jobs because any products or services that are now "too expensive" will have to be sourced from inside the U.S. leading to opportunities for new business.

Tariffs DOES NOT CAUSE SYSTEMIC INFLATION. OVERPRINTING OF MONEY CAUSES SYSTEMIC INFLATION. Tariffs only affects SPECIFIC GOODS FROM SPECIFIC PLACES THAT ARE BEING TARIFFED FOR A SHORT TERM. AND TARIFFS CAN BE REMOVED ANY TIME. PEOPLE NEED TO CALM THE F DOWN. Pardon my language.

I'd prefer to call it price gouging since this isn't really inflation in the sense money is worth less.

The US “made America great” before with a 90% tax rate and social programs that added to the middle class before. It can do this again but not without change. Wall Street and corporations need more rules to reinvest in workers and increase their pay, increase hourly wages and universal health care. This will keep the markets growing and is nearly a zero sum game … except for the billionaires

I think we're heading into a recession anyway with the reduction of government spending. So prices may actually come down some. Note, that most of the growth since the GFC came from deficit spending.
