The confrontation on Mechonis in XC1. All of the reveals and great character moments that come once you get up to where Egil is. Also, the vision that the Mechonis is about to deal infinite damage is one of my favorite moments.

Chapter 10 of Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. In the previous chapters, players can utilize the dragon veins on maps to alter the terrain to their advantage (e.g. summoning acid rain on the enemy in chapter 9) if a unit with royal blood stands on it. This defense map (in which we need to prevent enemies from reaching a certain area on the map for 11 turns), starts with the enemy forces' leader, Takumi, standing immobile on the opposite end of the map. Attentive players will see that he is standing on a dragon vein but the game cannot tell you what it does while he's on it. Due to the innate difficulty, players survive by making skilful use of the many choke points offered by the waterways that litter the port themed map. This is all while juggling carrying units to civilian houses to get valuable rewards. However, once turn 7 starts, any sense of security is swiftly crushed as Takumi activates the map's dragon vein. This drains the water and lets the enemies beeline through the now open field. The chaos only grows in subsequent turns as the once stationary enemy units guarding Takumi's fleet suddenly join in on the assault. The best part of this chapter's twist is that once the player has gained enough skill (typically on a replay) they can take full advantage of the skill movement and preparation mechanics to rush and defeat Takumi by turn 7 to prevent said twist and make the rest of the map more straightforward (until they activate the dragon vein themselves anyway out of sheer curiosity). No comment can truly do this sequence justice so I implore anyone curious to try the game out (preferably on hard or lunatic difficulty which the game feels balanced around) and experience it for themselves.

Midna’s lament was crazy the first time I played it, I had no idea that something like that would happen, from zant cursing you, panicking and taking minds to Zelda, then finishing off with the lost woods and an epic master sword pull
