Simon because of Erza's reaction, the animation and VA really made you feel her pain, and the contrast with the usual Erza made it even stronger

Natsu’s main goal through most of the series was finding his dad and shortly after he found him, he was taken away from him again. Natsu crying over Igneel’s body was the saddest moment in all of Fairy Tail!

My personal ranking for them(this is just my opinion): 1. Igneel. Natsu spent most of his life searching for him, and less than an hour after reuniting Igneel is killed by Acnologia. 2. Simon. Similar to Igneel he died shortly after reuniting with Erza, not only affecting her but Kagura and Milliana as well. Him and Igneel are interchangeable for me. 3. Ultear. Even though she technically didn't die she sacrificed the majority of her life force to turn back the clock by a minute, with her believing that made her lifespan worthless. 4. Future Lucy. While sad it ultimately had little impact and unlike the others isn't really brought up again. It's kind of an "Oh no. Anyway." death as it's not the Lucy we saw grow throughout the show.

This is tough. Future Lucy’s death hurt cuz even if this isn’t the Lucy we’ve followed she’s still Lucy from a different timeline so she’s experienced everything our Lucy experience up till this point. To think she lost all her friends and family in her time, tried to stop the eclipse disaster from happening and then died saving another version of her. When she asked to see our Lucy’s guild mark and she noticed Future Lucy didn’t have hers, and Natsu remembers when she was so excited when she first got it, it hurt. Like Happy said it didn’t matter if she wasn’t from this timeline she was still Lucy and they were sad to see her die. It was bittersweet to see her wake up in the afterlife reunited with her guild mates. For her that was a happy ending

Simon is the most effective. To this day, it's the death that felt the realest. And the soundtrack choice and scenery was great

To me future lucy's death was very painfull..as she did really went through soo much at that time...even lost her arm and friends and all..only being left alone 😞

The series made us love Ultear so much, when she sacrificed her youth in GMG arc and turned into an old lady, I felt so heartbroken. She don't deserve that kind of fate.

I feel like Simon's was honestly the most impactful because it was real and stuck. I might remember some things wrong but future Lucy would disapper anyway and wasn't that going to be the same with Igneel. Since the dragons all vanish again at the end of the Tartaros arc after the whole turning dragon prevention thing. Ultear didn't actually die she just became an old woman. Sure each one was sad upon initially watching/reading but Simon's death was true and actually stuck. I had to go off memory since I actually haven't looked into Fairy tail for a long time

Definitely Igneel it was heartbreaking Natsu was so happy to see him and to be helping in in Tartaros and he serched everywhere for him just to lose him permanently not saying the pthers didn't hit but that one the most

Like Happy said, Future Lucy is still Lucy and it was sad to see her die, especially given all she’d been through. Igneel’s death was sad too.
