Just did a test and it appears that whether the stable volume option is on or off is part of your cookies (similar to subtitle settings and light/dark mode), so if you turn it off once it will be off unless your cookies get cleared.

From my experience the stable audio button is like good when the video's audio is skuffed (like, if the voice over is too quiet to hear or something) but I guess if you know what you're with the audio doing it can cause problems. Idk maybe just tell people to turn it off.

it's so annoying! I turned it off as soon as I saw that. Now I make as sure as I can to keep it off. Who even asked for this?!

TIL youtube added a "stable volume" button that's on by default, which compresses some of my music rather significantly by making all the louder parts way quieter 🙃I can't remove the setting either. Very cool!! pls keep this in mind as I may be posting something very soon............. 👀
