Special Books by Special Kids

This summer and fall, I’ll be traveling across the northeastern USA and parts of Canada to film new interviews for SBSK. I’ll be visiting Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Montreal, and Toronto. If you live near any of these cities and want to share your story on SBSK, I’d love to hear from you. This opportunity is open to people of all backgrounds, ages, and disabilities.

To apply:
1. Email me at interview@sbsk.org

2. Include a paragraph or two about your story (and a photo if you’d like)

3. Use your city and state/province as the subject line of the email (e.g., Boston, MA). This helps me stay organized.

I’m so excited to make new friends on the road as we kick off the 11th year of Special Books by Special Kids!

Hey Chris, what a trip you're making. You are going to meet so many more amazing people. I've been watching every interview for many years now. I work with teens with disabilities and I feel like knowing about all these experiences, diagnoses and perspectives makes me better at my job. If you're ever in for an even bigger journey, I hope you'll consider Europe.

First off, I absolutely love your content. It has helped me make it through a hard period of my life and heal. Genuine thanks! Would love to see you in Western Canada. My daughter's ruptured AVM, and subsequent recovery is a bit of an inspiring story. After having a greater risk of dying after her brain bleed, then surviving but told that she wouldn't make it in school, and yet she's going through high school now, making it to provincials in one sport discipline, playing wheelchair rugby with paralympians and more -the latter at the age of 14. While she doesn't have a super rare disorder, she's fought hard and came back from a non-speaking, 100% reliant state to independence and high-level sport. My mission is to raise awareness and get more kids with disabilities into sports. There are so many options out there, and it's greatly helped my daughter.

Best of luck to everyone! This is a really special thing you are doing SBSK. It's not often that a person who wants to interview fans, it really shows how much you care, may god bless you and all of the people you meet.

She seems like such a sweet, kind girl. The way she kept eye contact with you and listened to you as you spoke is very telling of the kind of person she is. It’s so sad to see her fall down the path she has. She seemed so much more lively in this interview, and her voice sounds stronger and fuller than it currently does in 2025. Now, it just sounds so weak :( i hope she gets better. She still has a chance
