Alexa Donne

Hey everyone! I know I'm well past time to maybe make some videos again... I have a few topics in mind that I've been saving, but I've been away so long I want to ask all of you: are there any particular topics you'd like to see me tackle? I don't see myself returning to my old schedule, but will endeavor to at least certainly post a *bit* more often!

A "The State of Publishing" video, given the rise of Booktok and AI.

@Amaiguri

I would love just an update on how you're doing and stuff! What you're writing/working on, if the house-selling went well??? (That might be too far back lol), and what, if any, social media platforms you find yourself using for marketing these days (especially with Twitter's decline, Tiktok ban in the USA, etc.) Alternatively, if you have any editing-related videos planned, I just started an editing pass and need the inspiration đŸ™đŸ»đŸ™

@markonarrates

I’d love to see a video on your experience writing an adult novel and how the process has differed from your YA novels. Always glad to see you pop up in my feed again!

@Badhorsereader

Yay, more videos! I sincerely adore your state of publishing series and would love to have a 2024 update.

@oatmilg

so happy to hear from you!! some things i’d be interested in are a life update (only what you’re comfortable sharing ofc), an update on how you feel about author life/career now that you’ve published a few books, how to stay on a writing schedule/keep writing if you’re neurodivergent (if you have any experience or even secondhand experience on this), and honestly any updated thoughts or info about trad publishing in general—esp for a total beginner! hope you’re well 💖

Love a little insight/update on the current querying environment!

@katattack0

Glad to to see you're still around 😊 Along the lines of the other comment would love to see an industry catch-up/news chat as well as perhaps what you're currently up to writing wise

@FeeBeeCreating

I’m so glad you’re thinking of returning after your hiatus. I would love more bookish content, as well as maybe a life update (if you’re comfortable) and some tips on keeping to a writing routine x

@aliyacassel9149

I'm personally a big fan of when you discuss the less known parts of publishing

I've missed seeing you in my feed!! Happy you're back! Some video ideas: Whats in and out in the publishing world (genres etc.), Best time to query or your book depending on season and genre, Publishing updates (Ive heard there's less literary agents now, is YA really out?, etc.), Vlogs and life update (love to see more of you! Cooking, cruising, writing, whatever!) , Stages of Drafting and revision, Q&As.

@geebee1514

Glad to see you. Any topic is fine with me, but maybe update on what you've been up to and how you have been. And I'm thinking about the state of Traditional Publishing.

@shorelinesoul

Alexa! I discovered your channel during your well-deserved hiatus from video-making and you have step-by-step walked me through the editing, querying, and pre-pub stages... and now not far from my debut year. Thank you so much for all your help. ❀ You are a gem!!!

I’d love any insight you have on the current querying and submission climate. (Especially going on sub!) As always, thank you for keeping us informed!

Hi Alexa! I love the way you simplify the art of writing! My favorite video you made is your one on developing characters and giving them specific quirks ~ like feeling sick when smelling eggs. I would love to hear your take on how to hook readers and keep ‘em hooked and make ‘em say “Noooo!!!!” when they flip the last page and i the book ENDS. Happy easter!!

@WilliamBilsters

I'm just here waiting for your Pretty Dead Queens spoiler chat and what were the changes/challenges you encountered while writing it. I'm also curious how you found your street team for PDQ and how to start one. Also agree with the others about the state of publishing and what does it really mean to query in 2023/2024.

@MacklamWriter

Hi Alexa, it would be great to see more videos! One I've always been interested in seeing would be one breaking down Act 3. You did a great one on endings, but another that maybe covered the whole act would be fun!

@hazelphoenix203

Would love to hear how your writing is going, what you're working on, maybe another video about the state of the publishing industry - AI, etc

@MIrfanPerdana

Hi Alexa! Good to see you're back (even if only a little bit!) 😄 A topic I'd be curious to see you tackle is maybe a discussion on series formats, like trilogies. Should you write a trilogy? What are the advantages and disadvantages of writing a trilogy? How do plans for a trilogy work with book deals? Things like that! Hope everything's peachy on your end 👍

Anything isolation trope related 🍿 or book recommendations. You’ve introduced me to so many addictive authors 🙏

So glad to see you back! I’d been wondering about the first person and third person view when writing a book, if you don’t mind—or haven’t talked about it yet—it would be very useful
Have a nice day!!
