Has content recycling gone too far in Destiny 2?

I honestly don’t mind them bringing exotics back, as they usually drastically change the function of each one. As for pvp maps and other stuff… it’s better than getting nothing I guess

Thing is that's how I feel what a majority of the player base wants. Bring back an exotic or fan favorite legendary... I want them to bring back X crucible map/Raid/strike... I'm like many and want new content but when you harp too much about nostalgia and how things used to be Bungie will only bring back said things. We are of a community that are rarely appeased and many gaming communities are like that.

Recycled or not, I really do not care if some of the new guns are reissued guns. It's all about the perk pool and nothing else, but perhaps scopes and feel of the gun may matter but it's mainly the perks. The Leviathan has returned because it has been missing since Arrival, and this season could bring closure to it and our Red War adversary, Ghaul, once we get to Caiatl's Nightmare.

these poll options are so specific and opinionated lol

Bringing things back to add content is COMPLETELY OK as long as other things are new at the same time, grasp and this season with opulent weapons are FANTASTIC examples. People fail to realize that in one season, destiny gets more content than some AAA games these days have at launch, and at a fraction of the price, a reused location with a new purpose isn't even recycled content

All in all, at some point everything from d1 will be back bc originally that was the end goal. There was never supposed to be a destiny 2 and if destiny 3 might not be a thing, atleast for awhile, most things from d1 will return it just a matter of time at this point

I don’t mind it if they are free or from Destiny 1. However, Fixed odds and epicurean should not be in the dungeon, they should be free as they are content that Bungie already charged people for. I remember people talking about how sunsetting was a way for Bungie to resell content they took away and it seems like it’s starting to happen but slowly. We used to get endgame content included in the season, now we have to pay for the dungeons separately. We used to get reissued Destiny 2 weapons free, now we have to pay for them again. This is Bungie testing out the waters to see how the community responds. So far, not many people have cared too much. If people don’t start now then Bungie will go even deeper like reselling Raids like Leviathan or Scourge or the Past.

In a long time frame the recycled content is fine with me, one thing I’m still salty about after all this time is sun setting, not as a whole, but specifically any guns that I paid money for ornaments for. Least I’ve got my menagerie gear back, I collected all the alternate skins for those back in the day

It’s fine because it’s literally what people have been asking for then they complain that it’s recycled content. Imo recycled item and areas are fine as long as they are either revamped or have new unique perks to hunt for like the menagerie gear having incandescent and such. I would just prefer exotics to fit the seasons they’re released with. Solar and stasis exotics when Void rework drops, void exotic for titans dropping at the same time as solar rework.

It seems like it depends on the scale. I'd say most players would be happy to see returning D1 crucible maps, exotics, or legendary weapons, or at the very least be contented. However, this begins to enter negative territory with entire destinations, randomly rolled sunset weapons with little change in perk pool, neglect to current in-game sources that need attention, and so on. For some examples: Nobody likes regrinding the same god-roll austringer they already had from menagerie; having the leviathan as a patrol space doesn't negatively impact the seasonal experience, but a new space of course would have made the activity more novel; and the moon being a 1-for-1 copy (besides lost sectors) of D1's moon (god forbid they gave the moon the mars treatment and gave us a different location) certainly made shadowkeep quite bland for D1 vets, which im sure is a large percentage of the playerbase. I mean come on. The cosmodrome is an entire destination that has literally no purpose. Why is it the game? For a team so focused on optimizing space and file size, there are a lot of underused, or downright unused assets that take up room.

At this point I’d just like my god roll Beloved from 3 years ago to be un sunset rather than doing the whole grind over again for the same roll.

I’m a lore sleuth, I love the new locations and lore books, but it doesn’t matter because I get bored of any new season after a week when there’s nothing fundamentally new. Maps are cool, seasonal activities are fun (but boring after a while), and guns are nice! I just want something more in the actual gameplay though. New enemies are hard to implement but I’m a bit bored of rehashed models with basic abilities.

I think there are things that belong, the moon and leviathan sure pop some nostalgia but they have new purposes and fill their niche But something like the cosmodrome has no place in the game, it's out of place. A low level patrol zone on earth, with virtually no differences from D1 and nothing to do besides killing dregs, which you can do in the EDZ just as easy

@TheRealKanye

Honestly haven't been invested in Destiny 2 since I started and finished the Witch Queen's campaign. Everything after has been soul sucking grind with no end goal, only to have that trophy gun or armor you spent hours to get becoming outclassed by the next best thing. The only thing this season has that I'm interested in are the ornaments in the pass. And I was genuinely shocked to catch myself considering paying silver for levels so I didnt have to play the game.

This poll isn't biased at all

@TheRealATHANATOR

I started d2 at October 2021, so it is new content for me

@whiterose2321

To be fair the leviathan destination and the seasonal activity are both free to play

@sauceinmyface9302

Better than Shadowkeep at least

@doktorsmiles2034

As long as it feels good i dont mind recycled content (derilict leviathan is pretty nice, i hope we see even more areas) And its a nostalgia thing to revisit place that were familiar. If they put them unchanged back into the game id be pissed, but with the twists and turns it makes them feel less reused.
