Uh, I would read about people being delivered from demons. So I would know that was a real thing.

“Alone on a dessert island with just a bible” i would come up with neither deliverance ministry, nor cessationism, nor traditions that compete with its reliability, nor any theology in need of reformation. AND I would not have a complex about by knowledge or memory recall of scripture. I would purely & simply be GRATEFUL that the Author who inspired such a beautiful body of literary works would reveal so much of Himself to me!

@ArachnidZero

Yeah, I probably would, because the scripture describes Jesus doing deliverance left, right, and center.

Matthew 28:19-20 NASB1995 [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 10:1, 7-8 NASB1995 [1] Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness. [7] And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ [8] Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. Matthew 8:28, 31-32 NASB1995 [28] When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way. [31] The demons began to entreat Him, saying, “If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of swine.” [32] And He said to them, “Go!” And they came out and went into the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters. Mark 5:8 NASB1995 [8] For He had been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”

If I were alone on a desert island, to whom would I minister deliverance or anything else?

@martapatinocap

Neither the children's Sunday school ministry, or the women's ministry, or any other...

If you were alone on a desert island with a Bible would you come up with Calvinism, reformed theology?

@priyarachel

I think the main thing required for a deliverance is another person to deliver from evil, so no, it would not be needed if I were alone.

Some people get paid off of clicks and interactions. Remember that when you see certain influencers bring up certain topics and leave us followers to comment etc. It not about equipping the saints, its about "dialogue" etc. which equals making merchandise of us.

not. neither would I come up with Calvinism, nor the Trinity as separate entities, nor the God having such wrath which got appeased somehow by creating a son, a human and a God, a new separate God from himself? and then having him tortured to death. ok, but for my benefit somehow? God didn't know when he created me that I would be a sinner? but he had some inexplicable anger about me being a sinner and it could be appeased through a torture of someone? imputation of Christ's righteousness to us was not part of the original Christianity. modern Christianity makes God out to be the same monsters in their own image. current Christianity leaders spiritually and physically abusing their sheep and then covering for reach other so the majority of ppl don't know, not even the church goers. I'm talking about evangelical leaders here.

Nope, that was my realization of many things that the charismatic church coerced me into believing.

For sure. Maybe a little different in my own perspective of what the scriptures teach about casting out demons from your preconceptions, but for sure. Just to remember that there is thousands of christians (most unknown) that are used by Christ to cast out the enemy with different approaches and understandings. In different countries than USA, with totally different spiritual scenarios. Fighting against excess in the deliverence movement MAY be healthy if you are very aware about details on this line of ministry and very active as well, otherwise you probably see yourself fighting for the devil against the church, worthy brothers in Christ and your own Lord. Think well before going in that direction, because if you are just watching deliverance from far and not freeing people from unclean spirits, you may be not following your lords comission. Because when the gospel reaches people, the demons that are there will manifest eventually. And then?

Hello. With all do respect, the question is not presented in a neutral manner but "tainted" with preconceive disdain. "Come up with"? Really? Let's ask questions as you said. What is deliverance? Deliverance, means to deliver. Jesus, on earth was "in the business" of delivering people from bondages placed by the devil. Bondages of sin, of sickness.. After meeting Jesus, people who accepted by faith His teaching and miracles, were set free from bondages. Therefore, no need to "come up" with deliverance ministry, it is a part of the faith. Now you said, alone on an island with the Bible. How do we understand the Bible, per the Bible saying? It is the Holy Spirit who lives in those belonging to Jesus, who will teach, counsel and plead to the Father, on their behalf. But does the Holy Spirit "shares room" with evil spirits? No. The Bible tells us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. It also explains through parabole, that once the Lord cleanses us from all bondages we had from the enemy, our " house" is clean. So, we better not let the door open to some nonsense, because next time, the "enemy and friends" will come up, and destroyed the house more than prior. We understand that we ought to be sealed by the Holy Spirit, to live righteously, to not go back to bondages, to understand the Bible.. From those questions we understand that a "clean vessel", empty of devil workers, empty of bondages of all sorts and full of the Holy Spirit is crucial, to do life as Christian. That is why Jesus prayed for us all. That is why Jesus said to Peter "get out satan". Because we cannot have two masters. It is God or Mammon. It is Jesus or the devil. No riding the fence. No lukewarm. Just full on with God. Hoping that this message will help. May Lord Jesus help and bring clarity to anyone in need. Blessings, from a sister in Christ.

If you were alone on a desert island with just the Bible would you come up with Christian you tubers? What about worship bands and albums? What about ceo pastors preaching 40 minute sermons to audiences sitting in rows sitting silent the whole time? Altar calls?

@SerephimLife

🤣GREAT QUESTION - and if they arent doing it in Heaven, WHY are you doing it on Earth

1 week ago | 1

@cman1072

That's a shallow short sighted question. If the body of christ was stranded on an Island with bibles, yes it would, or something like it. Christianity isn't a solo project. Doctrine is a group effort. Would one person with a bible on an Island come up with the trinity? I don't think so. But a group would over time.

@mc07

Essential? Would need clarification on what is meant by that. Jesus set the example and gave authority in his name to his disciples (the twelve and the seventy/seventy-two), to cast out demons. In Christ, we have this authority. But Jesus also emphasised salvation as a reason for rejoicing.

@elizabethryan2217

Yes, I would. It seems to me that Jesus performs it and instructs his disciples to do so also. 🙂
