Does a spouse/legal life partner of someone involved in a self defense shooting have spousal privilege or any similar rights when it comes to refusing to answer questions from law enforcement with respect to the incident?

Ugo Lord told a story about a criminal defense case where he defended a 14-year-old on trial for assault and claiming self-defense. Ugo won this case. Ugo said the target in the allegations had been harassing the defendant for years (they went to the same schools for years), and this tension had added up for years leading to the moment defendant felt threatened, and threw a punch. How does this kind of evidence that the other guy had been harassing the defendant for years get admitted? For reference, the other boy slammed his own jacket on the ground in front of defendant, and shouted "let's go." Or something like that.

Question someone involved in shooting and have a friend with them. Do you tell them when questioned about shooting to law enforcement tell them I will answer questions after talking with my attorney, but they don't have one, but they are referring to our AOR can that be done?
