I visited Brisbane 2 years ago. Lovely city, a lot like Miami. You have to visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. I visited several residential construction sites and the home improvement store Bunning's. The biggest surprise was little or no insulation and the continued use of single pane windows. It was good to see that most water heaters were high efficiency tankless. Also most roofs had solar panels. Bring sunscreen and a wide brim hat, the UV rays are intense.

When you are flying, Tahiti is about halfway between the US and Australia. Some airlines let you stop in Tahiti, spend a few days and not charge an additional fee. Go to the island of Moorea.

Custom architectural home seem way better (the local project examples). And that small population also seems to have better material options.

I watch Grand Designs on the TV and have seen great building in New Zealand and Australia. I know they take their harsh weather changes and possible bush fires into consideration. It appears the US is experiencing crazy and harsh weather just as well. I think home building in the states needs to ramp up. Yes it costs more to build but a much better product and efficiency.

Hello Matt. Please cover how they build fire resistant homes. I feel like they are two decades ahead of the USA in terms of code and practical solutions.

I've always wondered why we (I'm Australian) use Colourbond (sheet metal for roofing and sometimes walls) so often, when I almost never see it in America.
