During the making of the video on Easy vs Hardcore Linux distros, I was using Proxmox to host the distros I was considering, there have been a number of enhancements Fedora is making to virt-viewer and in particular SPICE. I noticed some distros were extremely fast and responsive (mouse and text inputs). However some of them were sluggish, in checking futher it looks like the Wayland based DEs were doing great while the X11 based DEs were struggling...have you noticed this behavior in other X11 based apps?

@ridcully

A while back I started using Fedora in my VMs instead of kubuntu because Fedora was first to wayland and then later they were first to plasma6. Along the way I realized I was having less problems with clipboards, screen resizing, frozen desktop etc. So anecdotally… similar experience.

I use Fedora to host my VM's and Cockpit as apposed to virt-viewer. No issues with any of the tested distros or with Windows 10 pro or Windows 11 pro. All are fast and responsive. Oh the base hardware has 4 cores (8 threads) and 32 GB of ram. It could be that I only have no more than two virtual machines running at a time.
