The Stories We Tell

AI Psychosis Livestream TOMORROW (8/31) @ 12 pm CT

Greetings! Tomorrow, August 31 at 12 pm CT, I will be trying something new: a livestream to discuss all these crazy “AI Psychosis” stories. In case you missed it, my latest video was about AI Companionship, and I mentioned these stories briefly, but I didn’t spend the time to fully unpack them.

The day I released the video, Kashimir Hill of the New York Times broke a story that was only the latest in the barrage of disturbing stories of generative AI encouraging delusional thinking, which tragically has led to the death of at least five people (two suicides, one murder-suicide, and one murder by police).

During the stream I will talk about these various stories and give my two cents on the situation. We’ll look at some chatlogs as well as messages from a Discord server I am a part of. I will also put OpenAI’s response to this crisis in the broader context of increased surveillance and policing using AI.

So I hope you can join me and let’s see what happens. Click here to be notified when the stream goes live: youtube.com/live/Tmbt9o3d-e4?feature=share
