Natural rights aren't a risk - benefits thing. They just are. The natural results of being free to exercise those rights certainly entails some risks, and less desired consequences resulting at times.... BUT the risks and consequences that come from restricting liberty are far worse and severe than those from being free.

Choice above all, even in the face of Armageddon.

People die slipping in the shower. Spouses are killed by being pushed down stairs. We can each make financial investments to mitigate the risk of accidents, but we can't prevent every accident. We can each make financial investments to prevent murders, but if someone is determined to kill another human being, they will find a way. Taking away natural rights to mitigate risk is tyranny. Gun control is really people control. No one should be deprived of their right to self defense because criminals exist. That's basically collective punishment, it's a way of saying, "You can't have nice things because someone else might not play nice with those things." The left keeps acting like it's poetic justice that Charlie Kirk was shot at a school after consistently saying that gun control legislation shouldn't be used to stop school shootings. Well, that shooting happened right after another viral moment of a subway stabbing, so I guess we need knife control like the UK, than fist (martial arts) control like China had. You can't fix the psychological rot of a society by progressively restricting access to weapons. The criminals will always be armed, which includes those in political power using the state as a monopoly of force and violence.
