There is no good answer for this question since all depends on a model (size, motor placement) -Over the head with swordfish sound like a recipe for ER visit. -With Dolphin on the other hand it's ok. I have my doubts whenever I'm performing single hand throw. -Wing tip with anything larger then 1m.... no thanks.

I think it varies as to the throw procedure. I've been severely bitten by throwing my ARWing Pro overhand launching it. I now use either a wing tip toss or an overhead launch.

I tip-whip. With left hand, Grab a wing tip. Spin around in one turn and whip. Slam throttle and climb. Flight path at launch should be U shaped.

I've only had close calls with wing tip launches going sketchy, overheads feel scary but I think there'd have to be quite the structural failure to go wrong

I normally go over the head but it always gives me the s**ts because of the 12x6 prop mincer 🤣

i couldnt vote, it all depends on prop location and model type... you need another selection, do you mean dangerous for the thrower or more likely to fail a launch, wing toss is hardest to learn and likely lead to more failed launches if done poorly, overhand on a pusher is most dangerous for hand cuts

I've started to prefer twin motor tractors to avoid any risk of snipped fingers

Each has their place depending on the plane. Once you get to a certain size (for me as a big guy I’d say more than 2.5m span, more than 5kg weight, or more than 12” prop) I change my answer to “all of the above”.

I hand launch my Talon GT while wearing a thick leather 'rigger' glove with a section cut out of the thumb to feel the stick. Then enter loiter mode and take the glove off. Those tail pushers give me the willies.

Well after watching your video the other day, it seems like if you have INav Autolaunch, the single handed under/over arm would be more dangerous if we’re talking prop powered, but without autolaunch, definitely over the head is asking for serious head and/or arm and hand injuries. Of course if we’re talking EDF, not really an issue with any of the options except a boomerang throw. Then you risk structural damage to the airframe or wing.

Definitely overhead. I mean, if you stuff up even a overarm throw, worst case you chop your hand up (done that). Do that with an overhead and.... Man, I don't even want to think about it.

Over the head launch everything has to go right or that’s a sore face plus for the first few seconds of flight you have no idea where the plane is. I now launch my EFXtra left hand underhand put the throttle up with my chin so I have quick control of right stick to catch the plane. It’s not perfect but it works most of the time. Used to launch overhand with my right hand but in the time it took to get back on the right stick the plane and ground were getting intimate!

I’m choosing “over arm” football style just because the majority chose two hand overhead …both are stupid imo. Football is more likely by yourself, two hand seems more common launching for someone else at least in videos I’ve seen.

What do you consider the most dangerous way of hand launching a wing or plane?
