A few days ago, I sat down to start something I’ve been SO EXCITED to do for the longest time:
…Turning my YouTube videos into podcast episodes!!!
Hundreds of videos, already filmed, ready to be reborn as something new. Ready to serve so many more people on another platform.
It felt expansive… until I actually opened my laptop.
Suddenly, I froze.
All that excitement turned into overwhelm. I started overthinking every detail…
Which video should I upload first?
What if it’s not the “best” one to upload?
What if people hate that it still says “subscribe to my YouTube” at the end?
Minutes turned into hours of doing anything BUT uploading my first episode…
I could literally feel myself spiraling into analysis paralysis.
(Have you ever been there?)
In the past, I’ve got angry with myself for doing this. UGHH. Why do I procrastinate??
But then I remembered something…
I’m not feeling this way because I’m lazy or “not good enough”...
Procrastination is often just a sign that your nervous system doesn’t feel safe to take the next step.
My brain was scrambling to find any way to hit the brakes and stop me from moving forward because it didn’t feel safe.
Woah.
So I took a deep breath. And another.
And I reminded myself of something I would say to my clients:
“All is well, Lucie. DONE is so much better than perfect. Let it be messy. It’s safe for you to just take one baby step.”
So instead of trying to plan out every episode, figure out the perfect order, and overthink if I needed to record some fancy outro,
I simply picked one video that felt light and easy, converted it to audio, and uploaded it.
No pressure. No overthinking. Just a step.
And guess what? The resistance melted away almost instantly.
“Oh yeah! I’m not trying to make every episode the BEST PODCAST OF THE YEAR. I’m creating a library. An abundant resource. And it’s not about me… SOMEONE NEEDS TO HEAR this message today.”
That tiny step unlocked all the energy that had been building up and getting STUCK behind “needing to get it right.”
And I started to feel clear again, excited again, and safe to move forward…
AFTER I took that baby step, not before.
So, if you’ve been procrastinating something that once excited you… a project, a goal, a new chapter, maybe this is your reminder too.
You don’t need to choose the “perfect” place to start. Take a breath, and another. Let yourself know you are safe. And take that first baby step right now.
Even if it’s small.
Even if it’s messy.
Even if your voice shakes.
You are safe to move forward. 💫
And now I can do a *HAPPY DANCE* because my podcast is officially LIVE!
