Indian Treasury of Wisdom

Lord Parshuram's axe is still believed to be present here and the place is mysterious.

Tanginath Dham believed to be of 8th century era or even older is situated in a hill in Gumla district, about 150 km from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. Lord Parshuram's axe is displayed in this Dham. Although this axe is under the open sky, it has never rusted till date. It is no less than a mystery.

It is believed that whoever tries to tamper with this axe has to suffer serious consequences. Believe it or not but many local people have lost their lives who tried to take this axe out.

Tanginath Dham also has hundreds of Shivlingas and ancient statues and that too under the open sky. It is said that in the year 1989, the Archaeological Department had excavated here, in which many precious items including diamond and gold-silver ornaments were found. However, later the excavation was suddenly stopped. Now what was the reason behind this, it is still a mystery. The things found in the excavation are still kept in the storehouse of Dumri police station.

Wishing you all a very happy Lord Parshuram Jayanti, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
