Mindy suffers from self loathing so much that she projects it into the real world as a coping mechanism

I don’t really see the point in labeling it this way. Because it’s so odd to me that we have to portray the desi western experience in just one proper palatable way. I didn’t like the show but I didn’t really see much harm to it. I liked the actors and it provided a stepping stone for a lot of desi people to hopefully get even better roles. We’re not exactly in the desi renaissance right now. Representation for us is very new and we aren’t gonna get it “right” every time. We can’t represent the experience of every single desi western experience in just one way. Mindy started with her own way and I’m sure a lot of people related to that. Even if it was quite ridiculous. It was also made to be a goofy Netflix teen drama. 🤷🏽

Never have I ever wasn't that bad and certainly didn't set us back as much as stereotypical portrayals of brown men did in the Big Bang Theory and Jessie.

What's this show about...never really seen it but heard that statement before

Set us back light-years? No! It reaffirmed bs stereotypes. It's trivial overall, granted I despised those aspects of the show.
