Faith is all you need, so do not lose it, and faith without works is not faith.

Unfortunately, this is mainstream. To true. I believe everything in scripture, I just don't trust modern translations or my lack of knowledge and understanding of Hebrew and Greek.

Not believing the Bible is obviously not "faith" - and neither is intellectual assent without any care for living according to what the Bible says. James is very explicit that there is a difference between real faith (which implies "trust" and therefore leads to the works that show that there really is "trusting" happening) and the type of "dead" faith that makes intellect assent but has no effect, in analogy to how a lifeless body is not a living person. A sinner receives justification on the basis of "faith alone", where that faith is genuine trust as exemplified by Abraham (to which both Paul and James refer); God, as Judge, makes that state of justification publicly declared [to some extent in this life, and fully on the Day of Judgment] on the basis of the evidence of the works that show that the trust was real.

Demons they don't trust God. They just know more than we do. they're desperate to win but can't. and we're not desperate but still enough to win.
