I’m 65 and have voted for and watched many presidents come and go. Until 2016, and now in 2024/25 I have never had disrespect for the office of president. I may not have voted for the person or agreed on policies, but there was always respect for the office. Never once did I have concern that the president meant to do harm to our democracy. Not only do I have disrespect for this incoming president but I have utter distain and disgust for him. I share those feeling for the people who voted for him. In the past, I found it beneficial to listen to and debate with people who had different views. Frequently, my mind was changed by a well presented argument. No more! What is going on with maga, Elonalds, aka former republicans is cult like and dangerous. And this is from someone who used to be a republican.

I'm just hoping we still have our democracy in tact enough to have another presidency. I feel sorry for the next president. He/she is gonna have alot to clean up after manchild Trump.

That, and also presidents who have intelligence, dignity, and grace.

If you want an idea of how low the presidential standard has fallen, watch any clip of George W. Bush talking about policy. He was the "dumb" President when I was a kid, but sounds like Einstein in comparison to what we have in the Republican party today.

My president, President Biden, did return respect, decency, competency, compassion, intelligence, etc back to the office.

I find it totally ironic that as we mourn the passing of an incredibly exceptional man whom was President, we are facing the instilling of another who is exceptional only in his total absence of even mediocrity.

I’ll even appreciate going back to when citizens here were actually smart and wanting what’s best for the country instead of just going purely on “entertainment.”

I hope someday that we get big money out of politics & get away from the oligarchy we’ve become.

The fact he was even able to run is a travesty in and of itself.

RIP President Carter. May not have been the strongest president but the best person ever present… especially after.

I'll miss the office being Presidental. I remember the things Trump said and did, and I was embarrassed for my country. Honestly, I haven't missed his whining and crying, mostly because it hasn't stopped for 9 years now!

Those who remember Jimmy Carter would love to see presidents like him again.

A president that has class, ethics, and for the people.

The contrast between Jimmy Carter & the Felon in Chief couldn't be more clear. I can't imagine the incoming president voluntarily doing anything kind or generous for anyone outside his family or maybe the incoming co-president.

As a Gen X, I don't want a President who's older than my father and yet less mature than my son.

I’m starting to think the U.S never comes back from this embarrassment.

I agree 💯% with you David Pakman! It's going to take years (maybe decades) to get the filthy stench of #45 & 47 and Maga's off our nation!😒

A funny thing is we should have had a president Sanders years ago but people didn't want to vote for him because he was too old now all these years later he still here and people are still wishing that they would have voted for him back then

More importantly, an electorate who recognize those qualities as preferable.
