Howdy folks, just a "state of the channel" kind of post. I was going to do this in a video but I found I just kept rambling on too much instead of getting the important points across!
First, some FAQs:
- "What happened to Oblivion?" Oblivion is on a break. I was getting a little burnt out and salty with the game, and in order to avoid another Skyrim Chapter 6 from happening (those who know, know), I decided to just put it on pause until I've rebuilt my enthusiasm a bit. This is of course a terrible decision from a financial point of view because it's my most popular series in terms of views, but if you have the luxury of choosing between money or mental health, I've learned it's best to opt for the latter. J'zirr will be back soon, fear not.
- "Why u no stream?" Same reason as above. I really didn't enjoy the last few streams very much (some of them didn't end up on YouTube due to technical problems). I decided to stop streaming for a few weeks as a result. That will change very soon however (see below).
- "When will you do more 40k videos?" I have no idea. If I'm going to be blunt, 9th edition 40k kind of sucks. I don't enjoy playing it, and unfortunately none of my friends are really interested in playing an older edition or something like One Page Rules. I could go on a massive rant here, but I'll refrain. Suffice to say, I might come back to making 40k content if 10th edition comes out and significantly re-designs the game. I am still occasionally painting models (like the lovely new Cadians that just released), but it's been about a year since I last actually played some 40k, and to tell you the truth I really don't miss it at all. Wish I had some better news for you, but it is what it is.
Right, with all that negativity out of the way and swept under the rug, I am pleased to announce I'm working on a new series on the channel that will hopefully be quite entertaining. It's requiring a lot more editing work than usual, so it might be a while before videos start popping up on the channel for it, but I have been a busy bee in the background. If you want a hint, it's an RPG, and it rhymes with "Baldy's gait."
In other news, as some of you are aware, the long-awaited new steam version of Dwarf Fortress releases tomorrow. It has a totally overhauled user interface, graphics and quality of life features that transform the game completely into something much more playable (and watchable) to the average user. I've been looking forward to it for months, both for the improvements, and for the imminent explosion in the game's popularity. I love DF and have played it for years, though I've made remarkably few videos on it. I'm planning to stream the new release a lot on twitch though, and eventually make some videos too. Perhaps even some basic tutorials to help get newcomers started. In any case, expect a lot of Dwarf-Fortress-related activity on twitch over the coming week!
