頭が良くて、運動神経が発達してて、手先も器用で集中力もある... でも心底情熱を傾けられる物は数少ない、いえそれを常に求めてきた日々でいよいよ始まりましたね！手術も国際的写真家とのコラボもアジア圏での色々なプロモーション活動もこの作品への序章だったんでしょうか。そしてこの作品がまたこれからの熱い健人生の序章ですね。

若かりし頃に読んで最近も読み直したばかりの大好きな小説だったので、グラスハートと聞いてまさかあの！？と驚きでした。好きなバンドがメジャーデビューした時みたいな切なさもありますが、原作を大事にしてくれる映像化なら期待しています！

Dear Takero Satoh, I am incredibly grateful to Netflix and Asia Viki that I can watch Japanese films and series with German subtitles. I grew up in the GDR and sometimes it's still a miracle for me to be able to immerse myself in other cultures today. I am an artist and Asian series are incredibly inspiring and enriching for me. My first Japanese drama was "First Love". It was suggested to me on Netflix and I didn't know you as an actor. It was through this series that I learnt to appreciate you as an actor. It was only after that that I got to know Korean dramas. I love both Japanese and Korean dramas. I like listening to languages that are so different from the German language. I recently watched Rurouni Kenshin by you on Netflix. I was most excited about the part "The Beginning". I'm pleased that I can write to you personally about this on YouTube. ――今回、Netflix で「グラスハート」をシリーズとして制作、佐藤さんは主人公の藤谷を演じると共に 共同エグゼクティブプロデューサーを務めるわけですが、どういう経緯で制作サイドにも立って、この作品を作ることになったんでしょうか?
――Netflix is now producing "Glass Heart" as a series. Mr. Satoh, you play the protagonist Fujitani as well as serve as co-executive producer. How did you come to join the production side while making this series?
Netflixが現れ、韓国ドラマが世界中でヒットするようになり、日本の実写作品も同じように世界中に愛されるものになってほしいと思うようになりました。それはぼくにとって初めてできた目標であり夢のようなものでした。
グラスハートの映像化はその実現にむけて踏み出した最初の一歩です。
Since Netflix emerged and Korean dramas have become worldwide hits, I have wanted to see Japanese live-action be loved around the world in the same way. That was my first goal, or I suppose you could say dream.
Creating the drama for "Glass Heart" was my first step toward making that a reality.
――なぜグラスハートだったのでしょうか?
――Why "Glass Heart"?
日本の作品が世界に浸透する時というのは、日本からアジアスターが産まれた時だと思っています。韓国ドラマだったら、冬のソナタのペ・ヨンジュンさん、近年だと愛の不時着のヒョンビンさんなど、新たなカルチャーが世の中を席巻していくときには、コンテンツの力以上に人間の力が必要だと感じています。
そのために人々から愛される魅力的なキャラクターを探していました。
グラスハートとは20代前半の時に出会いました。それから今日までたくさんの漫画や小説を読んできましたが、ぼくにとってグラスハートの登場人物たち以上に魅力的なキャラクターに出会うことはありませんでした。
大好きな藤谷を演じたいという欲と、自分の目標実現のためにすべきことが一致しました。
I think Japanese works will reach global audiences when Japanese talent starts becoming embraced across Asia. Taking South Korea for instance, in the case of Winter Sonata’s Bae Yong-joon and more recently, Crash Landing on You’s Hyun Bin, it takes more than a good show. When a new culture takes the world by storm, it’s these stars that are needed to make it happen. Which is why I was searching for an attractive character that would be loved by many.
I encountered "Glass Heart" in my late twenties. Since then, I’ve read a lot of manga and novels, but I haven't found characters more attractive than those in "Glass Heart."
My desire to play Fujitani, who I love, aligned with the path to achieving my goals.
――ヒロインの朱音役はオーディションを行われたそうですが、まず何故オーディションだったのでしょうか?
――Why did you decide to hold an open casting call for the role of the female lead Akane?
視聴者の皆様がドラマを見ながら、物語の中でだんだんとスターダムにのし上がっていく朱音と同じようにヒロインを応援してくれるといいなと思いました。
そして今回の役は知名度や経験よりもとにかく熱量が無いと演じられない役柄だと思っていました。宮﨑さんの魅力、根性と熱意に出会えなければこの作品は走り出せませんでした。
Akane rises to stardom gradually during the course of the story, and I wanted the viewers to cheer on the actress in the same way as they watch the show.
This role also requires real passion, more than name value or experience. This show never would have found its footing if we hadn't found the charm, determination, and passion of Ms. Miyazaki.
――他のキャストについても佐藤さんからお声がけされたと聞きました。
――You also personally approached other cast members to join this show.
アジアスターになってほしい人に声をかけました。撮影してるとみんなかっこよ過ぎてにやけます。
Right. I approached people I hope to become stars in Asia. Seeing them on set, I couldn't stop smiling because they pull it all off in style.
――今回プロデューサーとして、また主演として大切にしたいことは何ですか?
――What is important to you as the producer and star of this show?
王道のエンターテイメントを、照れずにやれたらと思っています。
To make a mainstream, entertaining show that I can be proud of.

音楽というテーマも、天才という役柄も、ハードルが高いことを承知しています。しかし越えられるかわからないような大きな壁に挑戦していくことだけが、まだ見ぬヒット作を産む唯一の方法だと信じています。配信された時にはどんなもんかと観ていただけたら幸いです。
I’m aware that the hurdles are high for the theme of music and the role of a genius. But challenging huge obstacles you don't know whether you can overcome is the only way to create unprecedented hits. When the show launches, I hope people will come to see what they think of our work.
