Today is 9/11. 24 years ago a terrible and cowardly tragedy struck the US. I remember watching this sad even unfold live on television in California and I was just devastated by what happened. May all the people that died that day rest in peace. I can’t thank all the first responders enough for all they did that day. Many of them ended up succumbing to cancer and other issues from all the debris from the buildings that collapsed. This horrible act of cowardice is what inspired me to start my law-enforcement career the following year. I served my community for 12 years with pride. There was no greater feeling than serving and helping people in need.
Today another tragedy has occurred in the US. Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative figure, was assassinated at a college campus in Utah today. Charlie devoted his life to touring college campuses and having open debates with people who did not agree with him. While I didn’t agree with Charlie on everything that he said, I respected him for engaging in debate with those that disagreed with him. A coward shot and killed him during one of these rallies. It’s time to wake up people. Those that shut down freethinking, open dialogue and label everyone a fascist if they don’t agree with them are themselves the true fascists. Killing someone because they say things you don’t agree with is the literal definition of fascism. People with small minds resort to doing terrible things because they lack the intellect to have open discussions.
I spent the first nine years of my life growing up in communist Russia. I am well aware of what free speech is, and how important it is to the world. The whole purpose of free speech is being able to say things that others don’t agree with. That is what needs to be defended. It’s easy to defend the things that you agree with, but it’s MUCH more important to defend the right of those that say the things that we might not agree with.
I try to keep my channel free of politics. But there is certain things that I just cannot condone and standby and watch. Believe in what you believe in, but do not hamper the thoughts of those that you disagree with. And certainly do not take their lives. Cowards.
