Be sure to check out this 50 mph "ebike" that we reviewed! https://youtu.be/1qkMgp6XuW0?si=mgZn1F0PYXit0rf6

It's outside the 3 class ebike classification system. It goes beyond 30 mph. So, that makes it a motorcycle. It's also not street legal, since it's missing all the legally required equipment for that, such as turn signals, rear view mirrors, etc. That leaves us with: offroad motorcycle.

E-bikes have gotten to the point where we just need to treat them like cars. We dont ban cars because a honda civic CAN go 100mph we implement and enforce speed laws. Oh yeah and 12 year olds cant own one and ride it on the street. I dont care what you call it stop just outright banning technology because we cant take a second to come up with a more nuanced solution. Any electric rideable that goes over what 27mph is just illegal? But I can buy a sport motorcycle that can go 180-200mph at 16 years old? Imagine if this is how we went about making laws. Every time there's an issue with anything just ban it.

If it has pedals it's technically an electric moped or E-moped

i personally ride a 60 volt 40 mph bike that has pedals and a pedal assist system... it's the pedal assist that's the biggest factor

Yes my 70+mph Tommebike is still a e-bike and although not a pas it will still get me home if something happens.

No. I have a 37 mph e-bike, which feels more like a motorcycle. I can only ghost pedal once I hit 25 mph. It's also illegal here in Europe. E-bikes, even if registered and insured, aren't allowed to exceed 28 mph.

Lets look at it like this. Is a hyper car really a car for the all that drive? Hell to the NO!. So if pedals can be used to move said bicycle. Then yes it is a bicycle. Not a motorcycle.

If they go that fast, I think they should be classified under motorcycles.

Honestly like these I do wish they made a hard tail version instead of needing suspension, but will still probably eventually get one. Torn between it and a predator. Also curious how hard its going to be to put Tannus liners in it to prevent flats.

For legal purposes I consider my happy ride g100 pro an ebike 🤷🏻♂

Engine: Converts fuel (chemical energy) into mechanical power (e.g. car engine, jet engine). Motor: Converts supplied energy (electric, hydraulic, pneumatic) into motion (e.g. electric motor, hydraulic motor). So really all “e-bikes” are by the definition of these two words a motorbike

It's a moped. That being said, (my state at least) needs to create a path to registering and insuring homemade ebikes. I want to build a 72v 45+mph mtb but there's no point if it gets impounded.

Do you still consider a 50 mph electric bike an "e-bike"?
