Hi Richard, I live in Bonnie Scotland and totally agree with everything you have said about Trump(A bit embarrassed he is half Scottish, must take after his Father?) The only thing I found a little bit Trumpish you mentioned was about Europeans coming to America for a better future? The reality is more Europeans coming coming to America to reunite with their fellow Europeans who had been living their from the day America existed. Looking at DNA for instance the vast majority of every white Americans DNA is from European decent and ironically half the signatures on the declaration of independence were scots and even even one of Americas greatest Andrew Carnegie moved to America from Scotland. There is a old proverb just because a Dog has puppies in a stable doesn't make them horses. As a economist you will also know Adam Smith (The wealth of nations was also a Scot). Don't get me wrong Richard I am not having a go at you I think you are highly intelligent and respect you very much and most importantly you have the correct moral values and integrity. Its just as a Scot that part you said I feel didn't really paint the true picture none the less a very big supporter of everything you stand for.

I don't agree with you're Ukraine assessment, which I've heard numerous times now, but you never give explanation for your assessment. Here's what I find counter factual to that assessment... First, you're entirely skipping the background to the Ukraine war. Ukraine gave up its nuclear arms under the condition that Russia promised never to attack them, and the US promised to defend them if Russia ever did. Thus, both Russia and the US are to blame for not upholding their end of the agreement. We have an ethical obligation to defend Ukraine. Second, I listen to two YouTube channels, one hosted by a Ukrainian who talks about military tactics and the other by a Russian who fled Russia so as not to be drafted to fight his peaceful neighbor, and he talks about the economic and political situations inside his home country. Both of these individuals have stated the following: 1. The stockpile of post ww2 weapons that Russia has has been depleted as of the beginning of this year. 2. Russia hasnt the production capacity to keep up with their losses if the war continues at pace 3. That the Russian economy is facing tremendous inflation with over 20% interest rates 4. The oil they are selling to China and India is at costs below actual value and not enough to make the company profitable to run the economy on over the long term 5. That the national reserve fund Russia has used to pay for this war is now depleted. 6. And you yourself have stated the relative GDP of America to Russia is like 20 to 1 so there is no completion between the two countries. So all this is completely conter factual to your statement that Ukraine is losing this war. It may not be winning it, but it sure as heck isn't losing it. The maps show more a stalemate position between he two, which were the US to hold up its end of the agreement it signed in good faith, by your own admission, Russia wouldn't stand a chance. And this year, even with our limited aid, Ukraine may just beat Russia in the war by attrition alone. So how can you keep saying the war is a losing one? Please explain Dr. Wolff.
