well i'm both but you don't have to completely give up at once, reduce it slowly and gradually. maybe only eat it on weekends? or special occasions? that way you're be restricted not banned. and there are so many veg recipes that are so delicious so try them out, maybe you'll forget about meat slowly? just a few suggestions

my fam is hindu so ive always stayed away from beef and cut out meat entirely on certain days. I cant speak for going fully vegetarian but i would say its easier if u start slow with not having it a day or two for a few weeks and finding alternatives to supplement ur diet before cutting out meat permanently

I am the only vegetarian in my fam ever since i was small, i would just advice you to slowly take your time and substitute veg version of meat based food and also try things like soya chunks (if you havent) they taste amazing and are a good source of protein too ❤

Okay ik im too late but i got the post today, so im a non-vegetarian but was vegetarian for 3 years in past. In my case mutton was holding me back instead of chicken what i did for it was i started slowly taking out meat like if my mom serves me chicken gravy take out the pieces and eat only the gravy okay? And then after getting acquainted to the taste you can cook the gravy without the meat as veg option and yes your brain might think theres meat in gravy but in reality its not. Also mushrooms i found mushroom the button ones that locally sell has simalar kind of texture while eating if u think it doesnt then switch to oyster mushrooms they taste exactly like chicken but it has little bit of a different taste at the end. Mushrooms are a really good options but if u dont switch to soya some people like it. Also ur vit b might go low make sure to take vit b rich foods mainly of b12 take curd if not then a supplement

Yeah.... In orthodox hindu (I lack terminology) consumption of meat is "adharm".... As God has made the humans and animals as well and they have equal rights to live on earth and thus humans should not be killing them for their own use. If u want to cut meat then it is a great decision. Try to hold yourself back. Whenever you want to eat chicken, try paneer or mushrooms. And.... For now u can have cheat days such as eating chicken only once in a month or once in two months. You will gradually getting adjusted and maybe u will make veg food ur habit.

Don't you like fish? Going full vegetarian made me look sickly. So I'm a Pescatarian.

i’ve been vegetarian for over 5 years and i’m the only who doesn’t eat in my household, but my family is always very accommodating and they make sure i have yummy alternatives! for chicken cravings, you could try lots of different plant-based alternatives like daring, morningstar, & gardein. always be careful with restricting foods!! pay attention to your mental and physical health and try to get enough protein in 🩷 good luck
