In Iran we have a concept known as in-between vacation days (بین التعطیلین) because we have so many days off there are some weeks that have 4 days off in them but there's a single day separating them, in some cases the odd day out will be called an off day too just to make it a continuous streak of off days. Having such a laid back culture and being given so much time to enjoy life is the best part of being an Iranian imo, although there are things that suck ass here these occasions always improve my mood everytime

In poland the paid vacation days vary dependent on your time spent working, if you've worked a collective 10 years you get 28

For us in the US its up to the individual state to decide what they want their minimum time off to be. For hourly workers its based on time worked per week. A new sick leave law in MI sets a requirement of 3(ish) hours of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked with a total our accrual of 72 hours (aka not enough) vacation time here is company decided.

Nah. American here. Maybe this means “government mandated PTO”? In the US, it’s a job-by-job thing. Employers have the freedom to choose if that’s something they offer. Normally, it’s treated like a benefit for loyalty or position. For example, you start with no PTO but work there for a year - get 5 days PTO. Work 3 years, get 8. Work 5 years, get 10. Etc. Or graduating from lowest level, move up to shift leader - 3 PTO days. Etc.

Man, I am in An Oil and gas company in Libya, and we work 15 days a month, and we get the rest as paid no work. And there is no extra stress in the working days. However, there is a slight catch, that in the resting 15 days you get paid in the base salary, without the addition, risk raise and stuff like that.

notice how the top 10 most statutory days are mostly islamic countries, its in their religion to give people their rights and freedom and because only less than 0.1% of them are bad the americans call the entire religion about terrorism.

South Africa's paid leave is only 21 if you work 6 days a week but 15 if you work the standard 5, and sometimes you can't choose when to use it. The company I work at closes at the end of the year before Christmas and opens after New years. Any working days in that time will be taken out of my paid leave.

As a Brazilian, your stats are not quite correct, legally we get 30 days of vacation, and sick days are paid for up to 1 month by the employer and years with the government. I definitely surprised about your stats and where is origin of that information.

Technically it is wrong in case of Iran, they are official off days but not vacation or real off days, bc people still work in these days plus still the majority work 6 days of the week not 5 like most other countries.

What you do matters. I’m American and I get over 40 paid days off per year. I’m a certified public accountant.

I'm an American lucky enough to be employed and protected by a union. We are currently negotiating to get 15 days of vacation instead of 10 a year! Unionize if you can folks!
