Iron Cthulhu Apocalypse

Spotify is fining artists for false positive "bot activity". In other words, if their analytic algorithm deems streaming activity "botlike", they'll fine you. And if you're with a Distributor like Tunecore, Distrokid, etc. those distributors may threaten to destroy your entire account, permanently, with a "no resurrections" clause. You can't even come back as a zombie or revenant. You're gone. No appeals process. No defense. Their bot-finding algorithm's decisions are final.

In the first place, policing by algorithm does not work on any platform. In the second place, although I don’t like AI, it seems that the fear of it is more widespread and influential than its actual use.
