As I recall, on Pop Culture Crisis they speculated that indie bookstores were propping up their economies by stocking loads of romance fantasy from like, BookTok, and that Barnes and Noble maybe didn’t have to do that as much because they were stronger economically. All I really know is people shop there deliberately to prop them up because corporations=bad, or whatever. I do love used bookstores, but Malaprops in Asheville is the one new bookstore that I think has a lot of merit that I’ve actually been to. There is a lot of really cool esoteric type books there. So basically I haven’t given you anything to really work with, lol.

I must ask: To everyone here who likes to shop at bougie local bookstores, why do you like shopping there?
The reason I ask is that I plan to make a video about how much I hate bougie bookstores and in order to be as effective as possible I need to steelman my opponent before I tear it down
