Coming Soon...The Abyssinian Expedition 1868

Just putting finishing touches to my next video, which explores the British military expedition to Abyssinia (Ethiopia) to free some British subjects being held captive in the fortress at Magdala.

The campaign, commanded by General Sir Robert Napier, is often held up as a logistical master class.

And, once more, Harry Flashman makes an appearance.

Coming soon...

@metarus208

Napier's expedition against Emperor Twedros is one of the most important if unfortunate episodes in Ethiopian history. Thank you for this

I'd love to see you do a mock history vid on Brigadear General Sir Harry Flashman VC and then your opinion as to which Victorian soldier he was based on.👍👌 It was reading the Flashman novels all those years ago that drew my interest to Victorian /Edwardian military histor

Sounds really interesting! Do you happen to have any plans for the East African Campaign in WW2 as well? If not then honestly don’t sweat it, these videos are gems

Anyone know of this one? There was a battle in the hills, I think it was the Khyber pass? Indian regiments or Indian soldiers in a British regiment were somehow involved.might have been Sikhs. A family friend told us the story years ago, but I can’t remember the details. As a young boy, I got a feeling of passion and admiration for their deeds, their heroism in defending the outpost to the last man, almost. Wish I could find some info. I’ll feel a fool if it was a fictional tale.
