I am absolutely heartbroken and devastated by the Bondi Beach shooting in Sydney, where gunmen opened fire during a Hanukkah celebration which led to at least 16 people including a child killed and 38 injured in what authorities have described as a terrorist attack on the Jewish community. My deepest condolences go out to the families and friends who have lost loved ones and to everyone who is injured or traumatised by this senseless act of violence. I'm not religious but my heart especially goes out to the Jewish community on the first night of Hanukkah, a time that should have been filled with peace and joy, but would end in horror. I cannot imagine the sorrow and fear you are feeling, and I am grieving alongside you as we all try to come to terms with this tragedy. In this painful moment, I want you to know that your pain is seen and that you are in my thoughts and prayers as we mourn those lost and hope for healing ahead.
