The thing with Doja is you NEVER KNOW if she's serious or just trolling lol. Regardless, I think whatever she does it's going to be interesting and I don't expect anything basic from an album called "Hellmouth" if that's really the name.

But her pop songs are bangers and so addictive! 😭 hopefully she’ll miss pop afterward

I’m sure anything Doja does she’ll be great at. She always has a vision and so much artistic talent.

I mean, yeah it tracks. Every rap girl goes through their pop/rap era to really solidify that they can do it all and bounce back to their roots..Nicki is a prime example. Some rap girls can not do that and are forever stuck in the sugar pop sound for the rest of their careers. Doja on the other hand won't have that issue

But also, I hate how "pop" has a bit of negative perception in western music these days. Like being "pop" isn't cool. Doja and Nicki are both rappers that sell extremely well because of their more pop and feminine sound. And I feel like like the patriarchy that dominates rap music kind of shames them for that sound as it doesn't fit the "macho" stereotype of rap (like even older female rappers like lil kim or Queen Latifah weren't really "girly" in their music, especially when you compare them to Nicki who unapologetically embraced very girly feminine elements (the whole pink and Barbie aesthetic, as well as the valley girl voice etc) while still going hard with her raps. My point is that eccentric pop sound is what makes Nicki and Doja sell well and stand out from all the other rappers that sound the same and have their 2 minutes of fame.

Whatever she decides to do will be fantastic. I want her to come through with some Ms. Banks energy & rap over house beats!

Pop literally means popular music. I know we all have a certain sound in mind when we say/hear the word pop though. If she just means it's going to be more urban or gritty or less of her singing, it can still end up being considered pop.

Doja is a prime example of people not enjoying fun. They are too worried about putting her in a category for numbers, awards, and charts. Numbers and award obsession is the worst thing to happen to music.

@itsandrocyber

There's nothing wrong with her rap! The combination of pop is what makes her great so sad she won't be doing that!

@PaolaTheTimeLord

she’s extra af for this. she’s good at both genres. fuck what people gotta say negatively about her art

@xOfficialFadex

The mix between pop and rap is what Doja excels at so her doing just rap she’s gonna excel on that as well 😂 they won’t catch her slippi

She also said she was going to make an rnb album in a tweet. You shouldn’t trust everything the girl says on twitter 👀. Now if I had to give my thoughts on a potential Doja hip-hop album, I’d say if the album is filled with Vegas-like tracks that are fun but still have very punchy verses, I’d definitely be here for it, but I don’t really see her doing a street gangsta hiphop album that takes itself too seriously

@PercyTommas

After this album she needs to do a full album with just singing showing her vocal ability Could be something angelic related since her album is allegedly called "hellmouth"

Her mixing rap and pop is the reason shes one of my fav artists of all time. She does it so well and this announcement makes me really sad.

I guess in life we are just different.she's made her choice,though l hate to admit that giving in to haters isn't a good choice,and I respect it.Most of us do love her music and if views can't tell l don't know what can....

It’s interesting watching her grow up lol she’s still so young and dealing in absolutes. Not long ago she was quitting social media and that lasted a day. My point being that she might be done for good, or she might be taking a break. I’m interested in her rap, that should be cool 😎
