Vysethedetermined2

Good day, all --- After many years of working on Gaming Sanctuary, one of us has call it quits to pursue other avenues in life. It has actually been like this for a while, but I'm making a public statement about it now. While it is not widely known, Gaming Sanctuary was co-owned, and now the founder is stepping down and now the co-founder is the owner. The channel will still be known as Vysethedetermined2 (or whatever it becomes in the future) and you'll still get the great content you've been experiencing. Bel Cain the Eternal, a name a few may know, will officially take the mantel as Vysethedetermined2, as he has been doing so for years now.

As for me, I felt tethered to Gaming Sanctuary, and stopped some time ago because I felt that Gaming Sanctuary was not "all that I was", and through self-discovery and just change since I was a young lad posting sometimes passionate, though not always great, content. I enjoy watching people find their childhood memories in the channel and seeing people moved positively by gaming, and have considered so many times to come back, but if I have not done so after all this time, there had to be reasons. There are some things that are going to change during this exit, but in changing hands, what you have will be more concrete as time goes on, and streamlined --- there are lots of accounts tangled up with me, even though I haven't done much in the last few years, so that sort of stuff will be sorted out. Regarding GS, I just got tired of looking at the website I started with never get updates with changing life priorities and growth as an individual, and also, there are things like website hosting that, while I can afford it, with nothing of merit done in over a decade, I had to ask myself: "Why?"

This is not to blame the co-founder, but to assess how invested I am as I move forward. I also felt like there were artificial obligations to keep up with something I increasingly was moving away from. I also lost passion a while back, for a lot of different reasons, but ultimately, I enjoyed finding the good that would pop up in the space and for that reason alone, I paid to host the website and periodically put in work for nearly two decades in different spaces, because I believe gaming is an art form that comes in many forms and I see how it resonates with people. I can still enjoy said good from the sidelines though. That said, continue to game and prosper!

Like you, I had become burnt out (though in my case with gaming in general). Found my passion in what I had pursued for so long, wasn't nearly there anymore. GS was a major part in me shifting myself towards indie Japanese titles. Not only did it renew that passion, but it also got me into the fan translating scene. I wouldn't of reignited my fire without GS, and for that I will always be grateful for the hard work that was put in and for the time spent not only acquiring the games but also the history behind them. The historical elements are far too often lost to time in the gaming sphere, and GS went a long way towards preserving that. The impact you've had not just on us, but on the knowledge of this scene? Will be an everlasting legacy. This isn't good bye, it's see you down the road. Thank you for all of these years, it's been a blast. and on a much happier note? Thrilled to see everything will be in capable and talented hands.

@MD_Chaos

Surprised and sad to hear, but I get and understand where you’re coming from. I didn’t start following you til last year, but I always came across you for more than a decade when searching up random games. It was always cool to discover random stuff and seeing you write about. Imo you were like one of the great under game legends for this kinda thing that just isn’t quite around the same way as it to. Wish you the best Vyse.

Sad to see you move on, but I wish you the best in your future endeavors. Your channel has always been a Sanctuary for shining a spotlight on niche, obscure, and fun games while providing a wealth of knowledge about each game in the descriptions. I know priorities change with time. I have barely a fraction of the passion for gaming and uploading videos about games that I used to. Those early days of Youtube gaming were such amazing times for me and your channel played a big role in my early YouTube experience. As time moves on, life changes, passions change, and interests we used to hold so highly change, and we find new passions. I would just like to say thank you for all you've done for, not just the retro gaming and gaming scene in general, but for also shining a spotlight on those niche, obscure titles that, otherwise, would have went unappreciated by thousands of other gamers had this channel and the Gaming Sanctuary not here to inform us all about some of the best games we never knew about. Thank you Vyse, I wish you the best.

It is sad that it had to come down to that, but that won't change all the years of seeing Sanctuary and your good channel for showing me (and my wife) such cool games even way way way back then. Thank you very much for all you did, and I hope for the best of luck in all of you and your co-founder's future endeavors. Cheers!

I can relate to this but I had no idea you called yourself 'Gaming Sanctuary' and was several people. I've been going about this solo all this time. It feels a bit weirdly hurtful 🙄 I wish you well in your future endevours though, in whatever you wish to devote your time and effort into. Bon Voyage, and Live Long and Prosper 🖖

I'm sorry you have to run the channel alone, but I wish your co-founder and you the best of luck!

Well, I think you do need to hire more people/users who I know are interested in joining the Gaming Sanctuary website. It's not just you that has to deal with that, but there was also Undumped Wiki that hasn't been updated and was closed since December 2024.
