I look at it this way: entry level Intel CPU (LGA 1700): 16GB entry level AM4 CPU: 16GB entry level AM5 CPU: 32GB

Could get away with 16gb but the price difference... particularly DDR5... makes it worth chipping in for 32gb.

if u can get 32GB earlier its the best option, not only so u get the desired memory but also u won't be limited by four channel when upgrading

This really depends…. If you are a true entry level gamer you will probably be on the am4 ryzen platform or the intel 126400f cpu and those can be paired with DDR4 and that ram is cheap enough that I always encourage people to get the 32 gb alongside a decent motherboard and psu so future upgrades can be fairly simple and hassle free. If you start with the am5 platform then ddr5 is more expensive and I still encourage 32gb of ram but for most 1080p gaming the 16gb is fine… problem is the am5 platform doesn’t like 4 sticks of ram and it’s better to stick with 2 when possible so you would need to replace your current ram for the best results and that’s more expensive overall.

Depends on the rig and tasks. If you’re running a 1080P gaming set up, you can get away with 16gb. If you are going for a mid to high range build, I’d go 32 depending on what you will be doing.

I'd still say 32. Ram is cheap enough that you can get a good, affordable kit of 32 gigs of ddr5.

16gb is entry level now. Windows be heavy af for multitasking and you need 32gb for it

If building a PC TODAY, the smart choice is going AM5, and AM5 only going for 32GB makes sense

Ppl in the comments either just talking or clueless, i have 32gb of ddr5 and no game on earth is able to utilize all of it even if u have a ton of background applications, 16 is recommended and 32 is overkill for gaming

If you want it to last or want to go from entry to 1080p or 1440p then its 32 if you dont want it to last and want to start a new then 16

Who TF are the people who says 32GB for ENTRY level??? 16GB is plenty for an entry level gaming PC.

There's one choice here right? Who's going latest technology and 16 gig? It's 32 gig only. Go last gen or used for 16 gig.

What's the ideal amount of RAM for an ENTRY LEVEL gaming PC these days?
(Entry level using BRAND NEW parts only, not second hand, assume building new!)
